after effect of glaucoma surgery
Hello,
Doing Punctal Occlusion, which is basically closing your eye and gently pressing on your tearduct after you put the drop in, can help reduce the risk of side effects. Pressing on the tearduct can stop the drop from travelling to the back of the throat and into the blood stream encourage side effects. This should be done with any prescribed eye drop.
You will be expected to finish the course. This is important to do after surgery. The Prednisolone is a anti inflammatory and the Chloramphenicol stops infection.
I went to the hospital for my first check up and when I told the doctor how I’d been feeling he checked my pressure and it was 36 and the blob was not working. I felt ill all week and got breathless walking upstairs. They had to undo a stitch and get the blen working. When I told the surgeon that I’d been told by a pharmacist that it was reactions to the eye drops and he said that I should have rang the hospital . Like most people I don’t want to bother busy surgeons with things that may not be serious. He told me next time I feel the same things I have to ring the secretary of the surgeon during weekdays or go to the casualty.
I am on the same drops and often feel nauseous .
does anyone else get the feeling in your operated eye like you have grit in it. Is this because of the stitches. Sometimes my eye is so annoying and the sensitivity to light is so bad .
