Had Trab surgery on 5th June. Having regular checks with my consultant/surgeon. Keen golfer. Just wonder if anyone else has had Trab who was a golfer, and how long they were off the course? Thanks.

Returning to Golf
Hello,
Recovery time after a Trabeculectomy is 6-8 weeks. Even after this period you have to be more aware of things you do. Golf itself is not a strenuous sport and should not cause any problems. But be careful about bending over where you head is below your heart, so for you, in this instance would be picking up the golf ball. Squatting, rather than bending over is a better option. Golf bags are pretty heavy, so lifting and carrying it would not be recommended. Of course if you are using a gold buggy, this will eliminate that concern. Wearing protective eye wear would be good too.
Thank you Trish. I am aiming to try and get back playing early Sept. I appreciate your advice and will seek consultant's approval too. Angela
Trish, thought I'd let you know that I played my 1st 9 holes of golf since having Trab surgery on 5th June. All went well. Hubby was a great caddy. Unloaded my bag from car to trolley and retrieved my ball from hole. A great relief after 2 months of being very careful re lifting and bending, and eventually no blurred vision.
Thanks for your initial response which made me realise I needed to recover sensibly and that golf would eventually be possible.
Regards,
Angela
