Hi everyone! On last check up my pressure on left eye was 21, on dillated pupils 25. Dr gave me brimonidine, I also use cosopt and xalatan on that eye. I had dry eyes also and in Montenegro we don’t have PF drops for glaucoma. Dr told me if pressure don’t came down we will repeat iridiotomy. If that fail to, we will do lens extraction. What are experience with lens extraction due to close angle glaucoma ? Is that procedure reduce number of eye drops? Five drops for day plus artificial tears doesnt make my eyes happy.

Hi there. Sometimes the iridotomy does not open the drainage angle. Clear lens extraction is effectively cataract surgery and is also recommended for angle closure glaucoma due to it being able to open the drainage angle. You might still need to use eye drops depending on how much the pressure reduces. We have a very useful information booklet on dry eye disease which you can view here - glaucoma.uk/product/dry-eye....

I've had both the iridotomy about ten years ago when I was first diagnosed with glaucoma and both my lenses changed in recent years which have helped reduce my pressures. But I still have to take eye drops three times a day. Hope this helps.

Thank you for response Pley. I am 40 years old and fighting with this monster almost six years. I had iridiotomy six years ago and right eye is stable since than. Left eye is trouble and taking drops five times a day is to much. Do you have any reduces in drops? Thanks for help!

Suxs, I have closed angle glaucoma which was diagnosed in 2012. After my latest lens change which was last year, my consultant did try to reduce the drops I take. Unfortunately though my pressures did start to increase again. So I was put back on to the same drops. But the lens changes have reduced my pressures.
