Does anybody have uveitic glaucoma? What treatment have you had

I was diagnosed with uveitis when i was 14 and unfortuently also developed secondary glaucoma induced by the steriod eye drops which were being used to treat the uvietis.

I had a bardvelt shunt to both eyes approx 10 years ago but they are no longer functioning so I am back on eyedrops to control my eye pressures which were slowly creeping up.

After being on drops for manyyyy years i feel like my eyes stuggle to tolerate eye drops - its such a pain!

What treatments have you found to be sucessful? Its an awful condtion to live with. Would like to hear your stories/ positive expereinces.

Thanks

hello

I have Uveitic Glaucoma (L), I am sorry you do too. the Uveitis (result of trauma) causes Glaucoma.

until I had a Baerveldt shunt in 2013 I was on maximum medication and they didn't work.

I have also had a Cataract (result of using steriod drops) done in 2018, after since my vision is like before the incident.

Sorry to hear that, its so rubbish.

I was able to come off all the medication after my surgeries in 2014 but my eye pressures have slowly crept up in both eyes. Apparently my tubes have blocked up.

Is your tube still functioning okay? are you using any drops for glaucoma?

yes, pressure was 9 in october.

I still use Azarga for Glaucoma, but used to be 7 drops and 8 tablets a day before the shunt operation

hiya I have Uveitis and Glaucoma and 6 weeks ago I had an Aqueous Shunt fitted. However now my eye is draining the fluid quicker than it is being replaced so my pressure is around 4 and I have no vision 😞 I’ve been told it will come back potentially will need more sutures around the tube but I was just wondering after your surgeries did you have any low pressure issues? Apparently it is common in people who suffer from Uveitis to not produce enough fluid after this type of surgery.

Hi, I’m sorry to hear what you’re going through :(

After my shunt surgeries the doctor left sutures in to avoid pressure dropping too low but during a really bad flare my eye wasn’t producing enough fluid and I had a reading of 0! The back of my eye had collapsed and I also lost vision. It was such a scary time but once we got the flare under control my pressure increased and vision returned to normal!

Hopefully once they put some sutures back in your pressures will increase and things will settle for you 🙏

I’m having surgery tomorrow to the the tube off to allow the pressure to re build and then they will remove one suture at a time! Hopefully this will sort out the pressure issues as it was 0 today and my vision will return. Luckily for me the front of my eye is stable but the back has fluid gathering 😞😞
