Hello..I wake up every morning for a long time with head ache and my eyes are sore. I hav being using eye gels from my docter for dry eye. I also hav suspected glaucoma. When I go to docs he keeps saying its my sinus but doesn't refer me to anyone .does any one think my eye drops or headache and sore eyes cud be connected to eye drops or suspected glaucoma. Iam really worried.
Headache every morning: Hello..I wake up every... - Glaucoma UK
Headache every morning
If you have been diagnosed as a glaucoma suspect, you should be seen regularly at the eye clinic and possibly prescribed eyedrops as a preventative. Unfortunately you do not mention the type of suspect glaucoma you have. Some glaucoma's can cause headaches, nausea and halos around lights.
If you experience any of the above. It could be a sign that your eye pressures are increasing and you need to go to the A & E the same day to have your eyes looked at and pressures checked.
The sore eyes could be related to the headaches and not necessarily the dry eye gel you are using. You mention eye drops as well. You could suffering from side effects. It is a good idea to check the patient information leaflet that comes with any medication and see if you relate to any of the symptoms.
PRESCRIBED GLAUCOMA EYEDROPS: you need to contact the eye secretary to make them aware so they can tell the consultant and get back to you with their advice.
DRY EYE GELS: speak to your GP, so they can prescribe you an alternative.
I also had headaches, and very dry eyes in the mornings, and I noticed if I get my eyedrops just before going into bed, I had those kind of symptoms. Even the lubricants could create such side effects. So now, I take my eyedrops 1 or 1:30 hours before bed.
Also I have an app of EMF detector meter on my i phone, that shows which part of my bedroom radiations are high, and I moved my bed accordingly to the lower emf side.
I have horrible headaches at night, doctor make me a cervical RM, and it seems it is caused by cervical problemas. Maybe you can try with a special cervical pillow and see if it gets better. I have very dry eyes at mornings but I think it is because of drops and not blik during several hours while sleeping.
Just curious, have you had a sleep study done? People who wake up in the AM with a headace can have sleep apnea. Please..please get a sleep study. That will rule out sleep issues.
Best of luck
I think the first question is, would you agree that you have dry eyes? Does the eye gel seem to help your eyes, and does it relieve the soreness.
The second is, what makes the doc suspect that you might have glaucoma? Glaucoma is where the internal pressure inside the eye globe, is higher than usual. The kit to test this, is a filament test instrument, which an optician holds out to touch the front of your eye, - usually a GP does not have this tool. A pressure of less than about 20, is normal.
The third is, where is your headache exactly. There are nose sinuses inside the skull bones, both above and below each eye. A headache can certainly be caused by a sore (usually infected) sinus. So for a headache above the eyes, or below the eyes, the involved sinus would be different.
Sore eyes, glaucoma, and sinusitis can each cause a type of headache.
