Some help please…regarding waiting times

I have just spoken to the hospital about my referral and they are saying it could take 3 to 4 months. I cannot wait that long as my brain can’t cope and with all the medication I’m taking I cannot stay on it for that long.

I had a laser iridotomy in November through the NHS for narrow angles this partially sealed over, I had an enlargement in March and since then my pressures have been high and I have been on the dreaded Acetazolamide and eye drops and I’ve had enough of it all. I actually can’t cope with it and sometimes wish I had never started any of this.

I am looking at what I do next now….I have asked my hospital if they can expedite the letter?

The consultant I am due to see does do Private Consultations, but would that mean all my treatment had to be done privately?

Any help gratefully received, I was worried before and now even more so.

Update

After a few phone calls to both hospitals, I am now seeing the consultant the day after he returns to work 17th May…. So two more weeks of medication, but at least I have a date to be seen… phew….. after I’ve put my next eye drops I’m going to need a lie down.

I'm glad you have been able to get an appointment much sooner.

oh that’s good news they could see you sooner. I’m sure once you have seen the consultant you will know what your options are and be relieved, it’s the not knowing that is so awful.
