Have been attending our local eye clinic for over 2 years, 6monthly appointment last saw consultant in early June and was sent for visual field test. The consultant wanted to see me after this,I cannot get an appointment at all,had one after several calls for February but then got a letter cancelling this.Have spoken to hospital and consultant secretary but no joy, the secretary advised regular check ups at opticians which I've now put in place.
I'm on Ganfort drops both eyes and was last prescribed Brinzolamide for my left eye which didn't suit so unable to use.
Not sure anyone can help but just putting my case out there.
Hospital is Bassetlaw, Doncaster hospital joint Trust.
Thanks for listening.

So sorry to hear that about appointments Labradoole. I have been waiting over a year for an appointment with consultant led clinic to be put on wait list for a cataract op on my trabulectomy operated eye. My last apt was at a clinic with no doctors so couldn't be put on list. I have now managed to get an apt at consultant led clinic for January. Goodness knows how long the waiting time for op will be after that. I can hardly see out of that eye now.I think that check ups with an optition will be a good thing for you though. They can check pressures and do a scan of the back of your eye to check optic nerves. I used to do that.
It seems to have got a lot worse with eye appointments. I live in Preston Lancashire.
This neglect of regular appointments happens all the time in London. Even when an optician flagged up a problem for me recently it was ignored by hospital services. When I do finally get an appointment it is hours waiting in a crowded clinic and rare to see a senior ophthalmologist. See you in 4 months becomes 8 months if you’re lucky. While you wait it is almost impossible to get through to anyone who can advise. Private clinics are too expensive for most people. Specsavers etc. are becoming the only option it seems.
Have to agree, it’s the same in the Midlands, my only option was private, I have found a really good optician but that’s only any good if their referral results in a timely appointment at the eye clinic 🤷🏻♀️
I am sorry to hear this. I goto BMEC (under Mr Sung) at Modality Green in Bath Row and I get receive an appiontment quite often. I have nothing but praise for them
Sorry to hear you’re having problems getting an appointment, unfortunately this seems to be widespread. I was told it was imperative that I attend every 3 months, after having 4 appointments cancelled the fifth one I received would have been a 6 month gap. As I was only diagnosed this year and I have lost quite a lot of sight in one eye I found this really worrying so I booked a private appointment, it cost me £225 but was well worth it.
If you can possibly pay I would recommend booking privately, my NHS appointment has yet again been cancelled so I’m glad I didn’t wait. I’m in Coventry and I’ve seen several comments relating the same experience across the country.
Thanks all for your comments got a appointment at boots in 2 weeks full eye test and retinal scan he can then re refer me if needed thinking of going private if necessary.
