I have been using Cosopt eye drops to reduce the pressure in my eyes for some time. I have been recently put onto a beta blocking tablet (isoprolol) for heart problems. As both these medicines contain beta blockers I will be getting a more of the drug in my body. What about the impact on my eye though? Will the combination reduce the pressure more or less than if I were on Cosopt alone? ObviousIy, the intuitive answer is greater pressure reduction but does anyone know for sure ?

the answer is no in my case. I was put on beta blockers 2 years ago and am also on Cosopt. Unfortunately, my eye pressure has not decreased. I am however more fatigued.

Hello,
Taking a seperate betablocker will not affect your glaucoma, but as you will be having more betablocker, you may feel more tired or lethargic that you would normally do. If you do experience the lethargy, make sure you make the consultant aware, as they may want to change you eye drop prescription to one that does not contain a betablocker.
It is important that you keep your consultant up to date on any additional or change in medication.
