Brinzolamide eye drops

Good Afternoon, I have returned home from an appointment today and have been put on Brinzolamide drop alongside my Ganfort drop.

What are peoples opinions on Brinzolamide drops?

The drops are okay, milky in colour and you have a bit of blurriness when they’re first in but it goes away quickly. The Ganfort is worse for stinging your eyes

Yes I use both drops, but as the consultant says, your eyes get used to them. Had SLT in both eyes end of last year and next appointment is in early March to check pressures.

I was on Ganfort up until today but have been put on Brinzolamide as well. What sort of timings are you takin both medications in?

Every 12 hours so in the morning around 8.30 and then same time in the evening and the Ganfort about an hour later. Hope this helps

I’m on Ganfort once a day and they told me Ganfort before the brinzolamide

I have been using Brinzolamide for few years along with Ganfort which I have been using on its own for far longer, the Brinzolamide works for me, I also used Brimonodine Tartrate as well, I used to use Simzbrina but my pharmacies where I live cannot get it, so now I used 3 different ones, I find the bottles they put them are my problem, most of them makes seem to drip down your face even though you closed your tear ducts for 5 minutes or more. I have not had my pressures checked since last June, I was expecting to see an opthalmologist in December now it will be March/April, they keep on delaying because of the pandemic apparently. I live in Wales to Llandrindod Wells where are you.

I’ve been on Brinzolomide for about 3 months now. They made my eyes sore for the first week but they’re ok now. The bottle is not easy to use. You are supposed to press the bottom of the bottle to release the drop but I find that tricky so I just squeeze the bottle.

I have used Brinzolamide/Timolol drops (Azarga) twice daily for a number of years alongside two other different drops.

No apparent side effects and because they are creamy in colour and thicker consistency than others I find them very easy to apply with no wastage.

I wish other types of liquid drop were similar to avoid waste.

Hi WelshsailorI have been on Brinzolomide for 10 years. .It is very effective in lowering IOP with very little side effects. My consultant is very happy about it and never suggested a change.

I am using the brand with preservative because the preservative free is not available where I live.

If the preservative free brand is available in your area then it would be a good idea if you try it after consultation with your doctor.

IOP was 40 in both eyesDropped to 12. After using three different drops including drozolomide. I had a failed trab seven years ago

how did the trab fail? Are you stable now?

It simply failed to lower the IOP in the left eye and eventually I lost the vision completely on that eye

Hi Welshsailor I have been on Brinzolamide for a few years now.I take 3 times per day plus Saflutan once per day I have regular pressure checks which seem to be under control. I booked an appointment private last year with a consultant for a second opinion on laser he thought I would benefit trying Dorzolamide which didn’t work for me, bought £90 worth left with £60 worth expensive mistake suffered with eye irritation.

Hi I used brinzolomide and its a beta blocker and has preservatives. I have sensitive eyes and i could not use it. it made me tired and gave me anxiety. i got slt and just use monoprost once a day. i would not use any drops with preservative in them. maybe ask for an alternative. good luck valfrance

I don’t think Brinzolomide is a beta blocker.

I've been on brinzolamide in one eye for around 18 months after the trab in that eye started to heal up and pressure going up. One drop twice a day around 8am and 8pm. No problems with it. Not using it in the other eye after trab was redone in that one.
