I have cresent shaped blisters since Christmas..doctors cannot help. I looked at me eye drops Brinzolamide and it says you can get reaction. This rash is by my mouth..not near my eyes.
Has anyone had rash blisters on face as a re... - Glaucoma UK
Has anyone had rash blisters on face as a reaction to eye drops please?
Hello. One of the general side effects of Brinzolamide are mouth ulcers. Rashes tend to be on the outer skin.
If you can relate what you are experiencing since taking the Brinzolamide, then there is a very high probability that you are suffering from side effects. I would suggest you get back to your consultant and make them aware. They will then look into an alternative drop for you.
Blisters in an arc shape resisted all treatments from the doctors..they calm down.. then become raised again . They do no itch or hurt. They never get more or less.
Hi, I have neuropthy ( nerve pain) in 2022 was prescribed Pregabalin which graduallly increased to 5/6 25mg daily. Last November 2023 because I learnt Gabapentin was more effective with less side effect I changed to Gabapentin 100 mg 3 x daily during a telephone conversation with my GP I explained I had a rash on the back of my lower arms we decided we would see if my immune would work and because the Gabapentin gave me pain relief I was happy to suffer the rash.
In January the rash had become lumps which soon turned to blisters, a doctor prescribed pencillin for a large foot blister two weeks later with 45/50 large blisters on all 4 limbs I was covered in dressings from ankle to thigh and wrist to elbow, at the request of my local hospital dermatology dept a blood test for Bullous Pemphigoid sent to St Thomas's of London said positive. Which I understand means my immune system has turned on itself.
Diagnosed with NPG in 2003 can it be the the Azopt ( brinzolamide) which I now use 3xdaily in my right eye only after 20 years has suddenly caused this dreaful condition.
I should add I take no prescribed medication other than eye drops. I take 6mg lutien. 1x200ug vitimen D daily and in 2023 from for 9 months March to mid December I took a vitamin B3 Nicotinamide 500mg one a day when because of the blisters I stopped takeing all vitamin tablets.
Has anyone any information/experience of this condition please?
Hi, when I first started taking Latanoprost eye drops over a year ago, I noticed that I started to get tiny bumps in the corners of my mouth on my lips. They've never gone away or got any worse. I mentioned it to the eye consultant and he dismissed it as not having anything to do with the eye drops. I later found it mentioned as a possible side effect on a website I found online. I have also been getting soars in my mouth but am not sure if this is related to the eye drops or something else
I use that had done for a few years now, and have not had any side effects from it, hope you find out what is causing it best wishes we are all different and medication effects us in different ways.
Hi, I used to get problems with various drops (was diagnosed in 1988 tho have had trouble with inflammation since 1965 so have had a few!) and my present specialist (for the last 20 years) recommends cleaning round the eye after drops with baby shampoo on a piece of cottonwool if I have a problem. That works for me. Doesn't sting. I'm OK just now (Simbrinza, Fixapost, Dexamethasone 1%, Saflutan ... not all in the same eye) but some drops do sting worse than others. I find drinking plenty water is helpful too. Stay well!

We are not always told these things when they change our drops! Be aware of new symptoms within a month or two of new drops....may need changing asap.
Drops often do make brown marks on the face if dripped when inserting them...wipe off at once with damp cloth or tissue to prevent this!
