Hello, If you are travelling to a hot country, a cool wallet would be need as all eye drops need to kept below 25 degrees (room temperature). If you are travelling to somewhere in the uk it probably wont be necessary this time of year as the chances of temperatures going abov 25 degree is extremely thin. I have attached the link to Frio who sell the Cool Wallet. If you call them, they will be able to advise you of the best option for you.

Hi, I am just back from Italy where it was over 25. I take two types of drops, so I bought different coloured wallets for each one. Easy to use and I can fit them in with my liquids for the short time when going through airport security (they can’t be kept in an air tight container). Definitely recommend.

I got the “Eye Drop Wallet (1 bottle)”, but it will depend on what size of bottle you have been prescribed. (They sell them in different colours)

I got one for my husband years ago. He’s found it very useful. I also would recommend this as a good solution to keeping eye drops cool.

Sounds interesting not travelling abroad or holidays, but I do travel to hospital 2 hours away from me and was wondering how to keep eye bottle upright on long journey

I found these wallets a must if you use eye drops and the cheapest price for them is the Diabetic Supply site.

Thank you

I have been prescribed single use phials so think

I’ll wait until my next appt in 2 months to see if they change the prescription or give me the little bottles of eye drops

It’s all a bit confusing at the moment

Hi

I use the Frio wallet when travelling transatlantic, as they keep the eye drops cool for up to 45 hours , which is great considering the journey to airport, pre departure, flight and then onward journey. In the absence of a fridge at the destination, the wallet just needs to be reactivated according to the instructions. I also use the wallet when flying to my holiday home in Portugal, I thoroughly recommend them. At the airport I just place the wallet containing the eye drops into the tray for security scanning, and haven’t encountered any problems at all.

I use the Frio pouches. I have both sizes a larger one for my two eye drop bottles and a single for my lubricant. I have used them a lot during our recent UK summer heatwaves, when I’m driving, so my drops don’t inadvertently overheat in a hot car, when I take a break.

They work by the evaporation causing cooling of the pouch, so it’s important to allow air to the pouches to allow the evaporation, so it’s important not to zip them away in an airtight bag.

I think they are simple and brilliant!
