Its 8 weeks now since my Trab. Pressure was 10 for the first few weeks then dropped to 6 three weeks ago. The vision was blurry after the op but got worse when the pressure dropped to 6. My consultant doesn't seem worried about it. He says the bleb is good and the eye is stable. He says the pressure might rise in time and if not I might need new glasses to correct my vision. I must say I was really disappointed when the blurry vision got worse and now its really getting me down. Has anyone else still got very blurry vision after 2 months?

Low pressure following a Trab
Hi Beaudidly.
Hopefully someone with the experience of a trabeculectomy will answer you in time. It is good to hear that your consultant isn't concerned about the way your trab is functioning. It may be that because your eye pressure is a bit low at the moment, it is causing some of the blurring. This may correct itself once your eye pressure has increased a little.
Sometimes following a trab it can change the prescription needed for glasses. This is usually because of the shape of the cornea (clear part of the front of the eye). This can be corrected with prescription glasses.
Also, it is about giving your eye time to settle down. Two months does seem a long time but after a trab, I would allow another month for it to settle.
Thanks Helen. I'm getting more and more frustrated and need to get back to work which doesn't seem possible at the moment. You always think recovery is about steady progression but mine did a sudden u turn when the pressure dropped. The eye feels worse now than it did 3 weeks ago.
Hi Beaudidily
I have not had aTrab but had a micro shunt in my right eye just about 8 weeks ago. IOP in my right eye was about 29/30 before the surgery, it was 3 a week after and went up to 5 fo weeks later. Like you I was concerned it was too low but according to my consultant some people with healthy eyesight (people without glucoma) have pressure as low as 5 and have no problem so he was not worried. Luckily my eye feeling fine no apprent problem and tbh with you I am glad i had the surgery, not having to worry about putting all different eye drops in, although I am still on steroid drops but looking forward to stop using them in a few weeks time. I know it's frustrating not been able to go to work that's why I had even asked for the surgery in my other eye so that i dont have to go off work all over again but was told they do not want to rush so soon. I was bad first 3 weeks but fine now and I hope you will be too. All the best, take care.
