Advice for severe fungal nail infection

Have had a toenail infection for years and cannot take Terbinafine as doctor advised it was causing liver toxicity. Podiatrist told me to treat with Vicks vapour rub but this hasn't helped apart from improving the appearance of my toes, presumably because of the moisture. Does Itraconazole have the same liver toxicity?

Toenail infections can be stubborn. There are lots of 'home remedies' with some substance such as soaking the toes in vinegar(!) - here is a list medicalnewstoday.com/articl... but there are also lots of medications to choose from that you get from your doctor - a selection appears in this article aspergillus.org.uk/articles...

Personally, I would hesitate to treat an infection that we can apply a topical cream to using a potent oral antifungal drug as they can have many side effects, so I would try a few creams first, so please persevere with your doctor as there is a lot they can do.
