Itraconazole & dizzy spells

My husband is now on Spranox for life (allergic aspergillosis) and has recently been getting palpitations and in the last week, dizzy spells. I am worried these could be to do with the Sporanox but can't find anything like this for side effects.

Pooeysuey , when did your husband start on Spranox vs when he started getting the palpatations and dizzy spells? How long was it from when your husband started exhibiting allergic aspergillus symptoms and going on Spranox? Has anyone speculated where he is likely to have contracted the aspergillus infection from?

He was always said to be asthmatic but after a visit to a & e he was lucky enough to see the respiratory consultant and was diagnosed then with a spectacular blood test result!!

The most recent estimate published by Manchester University (Prof Denning) in Nov16 estimated between 50,000 and 250,000 cases of bronchopulmonary aspergillosis in UK the majority undiagnosed amonst asthmatics .see 'UK Burden of Fungal Asthma Greatly exceeds Prior Estimates' in Science Daily website

Bad asthma is frequently treated with steroids which suppresses bodies immune system and protection against infections inc fungal.

Cardiac arrhythmia is a serious side effect of sporanox. Seek medical advice - a phone call to the prescribing doctor would be a good idea - it might be he needs to reduce dose, adjust other meds but there have been cases who have ignored this ending up in A&E so dont delay.

He has now had an echo which came back normal and is waiting for results of a 24 hour tape. His consultant has stopped the itraconazole for a month, but the palpitations are still there and is now struggling with a nasty headache. Is there a problem with sudden withdrawal from the itraconazole?
