After several years of being encouraged by several Dr's to use XOLAIR, I am finally ready to try it.

I would love to know if anyone out there has used this med for ABPA, if so, what were the results.

I mostly would like to know if there were any side effects from its use. I know there is a slight chance of cancer, which is why I have put it off. I do qualify with the high IGE level (1700). I actually do quite well currently, I have refused prednisone also, unless absolutely needed. I lead a pretty healthy lifestyle, but the shortness of breathe and use of O2 is getting to me. Will my pulmonary function test improve with Xolair? I am hoping to be on this for a short amount of time 2yrs?? Any opinions are welcome. Thank you.

I am taking Xo lair every two weeks. I took it in the past, but stopped xolair I was misdiagnosed as having interstitial lung disease. It was ABPA..I have been on a high dosage of Prednisone for a couple of years. I have had asthma my whole life, and that is why I'm taking xolair.my asthma is severe and chronic. I just had my 4th shot, and I can already tell a difference. I will never be well, but if the asthma controlled ,I can get off the steroids. The ABPA does flare up, but a couple of months on V Fend tales care of it. It's s challenge but you should give it serious consideration. Good luck to you ,let us know how it works for you!
