Scannxiety

In September 2016, I had a Lobectomy and a lung resection. I’ve been have a scan every 6 months and all has been good, but my last scan I had in September showed that a growth from the previous scan had grown a little, and my report says I had one lymph node reactive, so I’m assuming that it lit up from the dye, and that’s not a good thing. Anyway, I’m getting my next scan in 3 my months instead of my usual 6. I’m very nervous that the cancer is back in the other lung. I’m trying not to worry but it’s very hard not to.

I hear you loud and clear. This is so nerve wracking. It is probable that my lung cancer is back from my lobectomy in 2015. As of now the tumor is very small and we are waiting til the next scan in Feb. to make any decisions. The waiting is difficult at best. I try to keep my mind and body occupied, but it is at night when trying to sleep that it is the worst.

Try to keep yourself occupied. Enjoy friends, family and favorite activities. I wish you the best.

I would be more assertive/aggressive to find out if the lymph nodes (as well as the growth) is cancerous. I had a couple of lymph nodes that appeared to be enlarged. The oncologist didn't seemed concerned and thought possibly they were enlarged because of an infection. I insisted I was not sick and wanted to have it checked out. The oncologist referred me to a pulmonologist and she scheduled a biopsy of the lymph nodes which turned out to be cancerous. I did a round of chemo and after that had a scan that showed I had another lymph node enlarged and did radiation at that point. The sooner you are diagnosed and treated the better your odds of survival. Best wishes!
