First, welcome. This is a great place to share and learn. We all learn from each other. It's also a great place to say those things we don't feel comfortable saying to our family and friends. Someone here has likely had the same or a similar experience and can speak about it. My experience with adenocarcinoma is different from yours, but shares its unpredictability. This is a sneaky, nasty disease. Fortunately there are new treatments always being discovered. I hope you feel comfortable continuing to share with us.

I hope this is helpful.

Did they complete mutation testing on the second cancer then? If not insist on it.

While I've only had one type (adenocarcinoma), I've had correspondence with others who have had two types of lung cancer at once and others who've learned they have 2 different cancers within a mass.

Since a cancer can take a couple years to grow large enough to form a nodule this second cancer may have existed very tiny during treatment for the first. Very small conglomerations of cancer may not register on a PET scan due to the size.

Thank you for the info. WOW, 2 Cancers in a tumor, I never new. I didn't know you could have 2 Primary Cancers, 1 in each lung.

Again, TY for the reply, I look forward to learning as much as possible and hope to be able to help someone along the way.

Good morning. I had surgery in August 3015 and on my 6 month CT scan it showed another tumor in lower lung. I had left upper lobe removed and new site was left lower lobe. My doctor said it could have been original site or new site. I have also gone through 13 rounds of chemo and 8 weeks of radiation and still am battling cancer in left lung. I have started Opdivo and have had 3 treatments so far. This is a nasty diease. Never give up, remain positive and try to live like you did before you were diagnosed. Hang in there and if you need to talk - contact me or find someone to talk to. Lung Alliance will connect you to someone who is going through same thing.

Thank you for your reply and sharing your story. I have singened up on Lung Alliance, need to search for a buddy with similar. Do y'all find the mental part is really a challenge too?

THank You 😊

Yes the mental challenge is tough there are good days and bad but the good days always outweighs the bad ones. Prayer and meditation helps me.

I just wanted to let you know that we can help with peer to peer support. If you are interested, just go to: freetobreathe.org/support/f... and click on the bright red button that says: GET SUPPORT. You will be taken to a form where you can click on: "Support Groups and peer-to-peer support." Someone will then get in touch with you to help with that! I am happy you are here - thank you for sharing!

Hi, Geri - nice to see you here, though the reason for your visit isn't the best...

You have gotten some good replies so far. The silver lining on the cloud is that you are still being staged as non-metastatic and treated with curative intent. Best hopes that this time the treatment is more durable!

Hi Gmassa13 sorry to see that you have a new diagnosis! I found your post very interesting as my mum was recently diagnosed with 2 primary cancers - 1 in each lung! Both were Adenocarcinoma. The left tumour only showed on a pet scan as it was too tiny to show on X-ray and ct scan. Both were early stage and she underwent surgery today with curative intent, to remove a lobe of her right lung and a wedge resection of her left lung. hopefully she won't need any further treatment 🤞🏼 My mums consultant said it's unusual to have 2 primary cancers but he has seen it happen a few times!

Stay strong!

Best wishes X
