Explaining Depths of Memory Loss

How do you explain to family and friends the extent of your memory loss? I struggle with both short term and long term memory. My memory has a lot of "blanks". It's not that I am not trying to try and remember, or that I'm not paying attention. I just don't know. It's really hard. I feel misunderstood.

I think its difficult for ones closest to you to explain any part of FND to. I used to have my sister tell me to think positively, as if it was my fault. Most would rather not know why. Maybe in time it will be accepted that we don't remember what we used to and mind blanks are normal for us. Take care. Moni

I got really frustrated with my besties, esp when the conversation got to my son not attending school (one is a teacher). Friends and family just need to listen and support, they don't need to understand FND and judge us but they love and care for you and want to help in their own way.

Oh yes. People get annoyed with me because of it. I'm struggling at work with new IT systems and feel really anxious about it. I also find that in a conversation, my brain doesn't register what people may be saying. So it's like I hear half the conversation. People just don't understand. I find it hard to understand. Not sure how long I can keep working. But I hear you. Chrissie

I was watching a show yesterday and I was laughing and laughing. It was so funny and my husband walked in the room and said we watched that yesterday. He just looked at me with this blank stare, and it really felt awful.
