My joints crack frequently, but normally I feel a sense of relief afterwords. Lately, my right elbow has been hurting, so I tried popping it to release the tension. Instead, it’s continuously clicking whenever I bend it, and it hurts worse after popping it. It’s in no way swollen or red, and nothing visibly looks wrong, but it feels as though something (either a bone or cartilage) is rubbing together. (Additionally, I didn’t sustain an injury of any kind or overuse/overwork it)
Would anyone have a suggestion on how to lessen the pain or avoid it popping when bent? Thanks so much!
All my best,
AJ

Hey there! Sorry you're having problems with the clicking! I've heard a number of people with a fnd dx complain about this in one form or another. For me, I wake up every morning with sore and achy joints, (it seems like all of them...ha!) As soon as I start the process of beginning to get up my joints click like blazes. Sometimes it's a relief and sometimes it hurts quite a bit.
I don't have any noticeable swelling and my joints are not misshapen, ( I believe people sometimes worry about it being arthritis.) Hope this helps.
Oh, I would just add that I don't think Dr's recommend clicking on purpose as it can lead to joint damage...but what do they know?
Thank you so much for reaching out. This was very helpful and reassuring. I think in addition to trying to stop popping my joints on purpose, I’m going to check in with my Physical Therapist and make sure no conditions/problems have arisen. I hope you have a lovely day!
