FND and Self Harm

Hi Seamer37,
I was sad to read this post and your other one but I hear you and hope you will, at least, be able to get onto the waiting lists for proper support with your mental health. I was also sorry to hear the hospital is mucking you around since that can't be good for you on any level. With the right support p/w FND can see improvements so if you can, please talk with your primary care provider about your current situation so that it doesn't escalate further. I hear that MPs are now getting involved with campaigning for p/w FND so if you are in the UK it might also be worth contacting your MP.
Because of toxic work exposures I received several investigations for neurological, with no evidence found in any. The neurologist offered me the functional neurological diagnosis but I refused it because I am still convinced that doctors have ignored vital evidence in my case. I was recently able to demonstrate how my test results, over a number of years, indicated evidence of liver and kidney failure, with resulting years of gall stone induced liver injury. Doctors couldn't understand why my liver enzymes kept rising and falling, as I now know to be consistent with the gall stones and jaundice I was eventually diagnosed with. In my own case this involved a great deal of illness, which doctors ignored, and severe responses to medications. It turned out that the psychiatric medications, prescribed because the liver issues were misdiagnosed as anxiety disorder, were hepatotoxic. Impaired liver function causes slow metabolism of such drugs, so it's very easy to overdose on them. In my case they had me on the maximum 'safe' dose for a healthy person so my reactions were extreme. Self harm was among the least of my own symptoms.
