FND seizures

Hi, my daughter started to have seizures in September out of the blue, she’s 14 soon to be 15. She went to a&e who said bloods and ecg heart trace was all good and sent us in our way - being discharged during a seizure was the biggest let down yet! We were scared and unsupported. We had a neurologist appointment who saw some videos and was told in mins she had FND. I worry there’s been no extra testing like EEG etc… I am sure she presents two different types of seizures and at a totally loss. There is no doubt light changes, flicker, emergency lights, traffic lights, candles all trigger a seizure the neuro said this wasn’t the case. I want to ask for a second opinion, been sending in daily diaries and emails to the Secretary which is passed on. She’s not done more than three hours at school between sept - now.. feeling in limbo and want to fix her 🥹

Be persistent for a second opinion, even if it's for a neurological diagnosis of exclusion.

Hi. As Lecture said, be persistent in getting a second opinion. Did the neurologist give any reason for dismissing the triggers for your daughter's seizures? You may want to ask the neurologist what he/she/they think causes the seizures, if only to get it out in the open that they think they're psychological, hence not accepting your and your daughter's lived experience as to the triggers. Particular types of lighting are a huge trigger for me.

Indeed, could be epilepsy but please get your daughter checked for lyme disease if she has any of the symptoms. People go undx for years and years, many mislabelled with fnd. Armin labs. Tickplex plus. Not cheap but worth doing if it can rule things out for you +

Lights are a massive trigger to my seizures that are more like uncontrollable muscle spasms. Chlorphenamine (the anti cholinergic anti histamine tabs you can get over the counter) helps me.
