How to find a good carer in the UK

My Daughter has FND and Autism. She has qualified for continuing health care. She has started University in Huddersfield and we are using an agency. Unfortunately they have been terrible and keep turning up late for her or even worse not turning up at all. We can receive the payment and employ someone directly but we don't know where to start. She does not need a live in carer but someone flexible I.e. to take her to and from uni, to help with shopping and cleaning and also to maybe take her out on weekends etc. We are based in the UK, in West Yorkshire. Any feedback appreciated.

Hi, your daughter needs the best the university and agency can offer, It sounds as though she has achieved so much, and I only hope the system can recognise her potential, and help you to support her.I do hope your problems are resolved with both agencies, we shouldn’t have to complain, but sometimes it is the only way to move forward. Contact the students union and discuss your concerns concerning the problems you are facing. Good luck , Liz

Maybe requesting the services of a personal assistant might be the way to go?

An autism support group may be able to point you in the right direction how to go about this. Maybe also contact adult social services and see if they're able to out you in touch or recommend services that may be of help.

Sorry I can't offer any further advice, I hope your daughter gets the support she needs so she can continue her studies. Maybe the university can offer some advice, she won't be the first student in need of this kind of support.
