Who thinks I'm cracking up ? My wife does .

Hi fnd friends A quick question, my wife thinks I'm cracking up ,every night I'm in bed first and I get a funny feeling that the spirit of our cat is walking on our bed just behind my back , I've felt her touch my back and some wright on my legs but I can never see her ,I've told my wife who said she has never seen or felt her presence, so am I going mad or could this be happening? Do I need to see someone about this its a nice carmine feeling. Please be honest with me .

what your saying fits into the realm of sleep apnea very well

Things can seem to you like a he movie and may not even think your asleep because it seems so real yet you are asleep this could also be REM syndrome which goes hand in hand with sleep apnea

The thing with it all is you think your awake but your in a state of half being awake -half asleep and it hits you fast

Last night my partner got up went to the bathroom when they got back they told me I freaked out thinking they were an intruder and was trying to pull myself up to hit them then when they tried to charm me down I went to smack them on the chin this was all in my sleep but I have no recollection of this as far as I was aware I went to bed and settled down till the work up at 12.45pm

The brain and body does some really weird stuff with sleep apnoea and rem your 100% sure you been awake yet your not

Just don’t want your thinking your going mad I’ve seen all sorts of things

Sleep clinic told me it’s normal for this to happen

Hi Littlecook I’m with you I feel and know things when I am fully awake too. I certainly do not think you are cracking up. I believe it is your pet coming to comfort you knowing you need it . What a beautiful thing to happen x

Trust your experience. If it is not frightening or harmful, let it be. Just like our FND, others cannot understand what they do not experience. Perhaps your close connection to your feline and the memory of her bring that awareness to you. Do you need an explanation? No, just enjoy being loved.

When we went through a very hot spell a few years ago I decided to try and sleep in our cellar. Its a lot cooler down there. I set up my bed, turned the light off and tried to get to sleep. I had the sensation of something moving around, and brushing up against me, something soft and furry. I was wide awake and no it wasnt a rat lol.

One of our cats had passed away in the cellar of old age. It was a bit disconcerting but not alarming. I'm not a believer in religion, nor spirituality either. I'm actually pretty sceptical. Who knows? Its either the spirit of your cat or its your subconscious trying to comfort you. I'd just go with it 😁

This is something I've experienced a few times over the years. At first it worried me but now I think it's tied to REM sleep. Pets are special family members so it's natural we dream about them.

It could be a hypnagogic hallucination (my.clevelandclinic.org/heal... - I get these when I am really tired and stressed. Usually it's a rat running across my pillow or across my legs (I hate rats). It can be really shocking and it takes ages to reassure myself that it's not real (looking under bed etc!). It's kind of like you haven't gone to sleep yet but you're already dreaming. I'm glad for you that yours is a good feeling - your brain is doing a kind thing for you there.
