Hi yes they certainly can and that I think makes it such a puzzling condition to everyone who does not have FND and indeed to a certain extent those like me with FND?

I can get up and walk to get a glass of water, then be unable to walk back because my legs do not respond to my brain's movement signals properly (for no apparent reason) - that kind of thing!

You may have read on other posts that I have replied to - but my theory for my Motor FND being worse or better I put down to Adrenaline overload, which of course is linked to the human genetic survival instinct of `Flight, Freeze or Fight' response. If you get Adrenaline suddenly flooding the FND compromised brain it only confuses the communication/signal channels all the more! And I am talking even by watching an action movie that can happen, believe me!

I have to pace myself, small tasks and rest breaks frequently else there is fall out!

I generally try to keep my Adrenaline levels stable i.e not get angry or other mood swings, do not physically or mentally overstretch myself, stick to meal times and hydration points in the day and keep a comfortable temperature. That way I can achieve a few tasks (not necessarily finish them or all in the same day, but do something positive!).

Hope that helps?

Hi, I may have mentioned this before? But if not, it is worth giving Professor Jon Stone's Website a look neurosymptoms.org

It has a lot about how common FND is and the wide range of different symptoms, plus some useful tips on basic things like how to explain to relatives/friends etc.

My symptoms come and go as they please. Some days I feel better, dare I say, "normal" other times I'm walking like a drunk and am reliant on a wheelchair. No idea why this happens it really is quite random. Not that it stops me doing anything, my family and friends are well used to me veering about now 😂
