Hello there! My 23 year old daughter has been diagnosed after 6 years with Myoclonic Epilepsy. The doctor said her EEG was not typical for this diagnose be closely related. She will be going to a Epilitologist for a second opinion. Meanwhile, he put her on a drug called Keppra. My daughter feels worse taking this medication. It makes her tired, moody and she shakes even more. Has anyone had any success on any medication? How about medical marijuana? Thank you for any info you can share.

Myoclonic Seizures

Hi,
I can't give you advice on what to take for epilepsy, but I feel that maybe you should be reporting the side effects to you doctor and if you are in the UK report the side effects through the yellow card system via the internet. There's probably a reporting system in most countries if you have a google.
If she is diagnosed with "functional seizures" then the FND Hope website can offer you further advice.
xx
Yes! I have also been diagnosed with epilepsy; simple partial seizures. I was having three a day and I had a really scary reaction to seizure meds (suicidal thoughts) I have young kids and I just couldn’t risk trying anymore meds. Plus yes even the regular side effects are quite horrible.
I finally saw an acupuncturist who prescribed me medical marijuana, she told me to not do the keto diet, with a lot of trial and error with keto and different brands and dosages I have finally figured out the perfect combo for me. I started the keto diet with low thc and high cbd. last November and the seizures have slowly gotten less frequent and severe. I’m currently three month seizure free, which is incredible for me. Feel free to message me if you have more questions. I really feel for your daughter having seizures and trying to live your life is so hard.
