Hi everyone,

Thank you all again for your kind replies.

Kim had her rehousing medical last week and unfortunately the letter isn't good that we've received.

I had hoped that they would have helped us get into a 1 bedroomed Bungalow for Kim, but they have said that Kim needs a lower ground property and that a disability grant will be able to put soundproofing in for Kim, due to her issues with noise.

We are eligible for an adapted two bedroomed Bungalow, but the wait could be a long one.

As you are all aware, we've recently had issues with neighbours being very antisocial and kicking on our door, so waiting for an adapted Bungalow isn't the best thing now, as it's a matter of our own safety.

The housing will consider Kim for a brand new 2 bedroomed apartment on a lower ground and soundproof it before she moves in.

My main concern is neighbours above causing noise, but I think we will have to take a chance and pray that her FND doesn't get affected too much.

We cannot live where we are much longer due to the constant worry of what will happen next and it will make us ill.

We are now arranging a meeting with our housing to see what happens next.

I've fought the housing for 3 years hoping to get her a 1 bedroomed Bungalow, but they won't open a can of worms by giving her one, as she's not 50 years of age.

Even the Nurse who did Kim's medical told me that she couldn't do more than what I've already done myself.

I hate losing and I feel I've lost the battle for Kim, not myself.

We could wait it out for a 2 bedroomed Bungalow, but the apprehension of not knowing what happens here is too much to cope with now.

I'm back in work tomorrow afternoon but will worry for my wife in this flat.

We think enough is enough and just pray that when we move, we will have better neighbours who move into these brand new apartments.

Hope everything works out with new property. It could be just what you need, it doesn’t sound like it could be worse then where you are now. Hopefully moving and settling in will give Kim a new lease of life, plenty of rest and new environment could be the difference in yours and Kim’s lives. Good luck

Tony, here is my advice. If what you're being offered while waiting for the bungalow is an apartment in a newish block, that is to say, built after 2000 or so, it may be solidly soundproof already. But if it's an older building, I'd advise to talk to the people who live there and find out what they can hear from the neighbours. The thing is, I've had a lot of soundproofing done to my flat, being sensitive to noise though not for FND related reasons, and it was in the end a massive job and money down the drain - and since it's privately owned, my money. It may take the edge off the very sharpest noises -provided the upstairs floors are carpeted- but it will not dampen kids running, heavy people walking, thuds caused by objects falling or being moved, or bangs against the walls.

Nobody has moved in yet as they're brand new.

Unfortunately, once we move, we lose our medical priority so it would mean reapplying all over again.

That's the gamble I guess.

Im so sorry you both are going thought a horrible time at the moment.

people are so cruel some times.

if you get the chance leave that toxic area its draining you both.

i know the new place is not 100% but its got to be better than where u are now.

Hi. I think the gamble to move now is probably best. We sold our house off market and therefore took a hit in terms of the sale price. But I kept falling down the stairs, my neighbours were awful and even my GP told me to get out of the house as it was toxic to my health. And we are all so glad that we did. Whilst my FND hasn’t improved (symptoms are worsening) l’m so much more happier in our new bungalow and the locals are so friendly. I hope things do work out for you both. Cheers Lou
