hello, i was hoping to find out if anyone has any success in using CBD with helping recover from a recent FND attack and taking long term. I can buy it from my local pharmacy but not sure if it will interfere with my medication or what strength to take.
thanks.

CBD stands for Cannabinoids. it comes from the cannabis plant. its been making headlines lately with people using it to help with medical condition. Google it. makes for interesting. reading.
Not used it myself and not seen any comments from people with FND who take it.
However, I have seen comments about it in relation to general pain relief and fibromyalgia. As with most things, some say it works for them, others not. But it also seems that the stuff you can buy over the counter is not as effective as that which a doctor can prescribe.
Much as you would expect I suppose, and not much use to most of us as it's not commonly available on prescription.
I guess the only way you are really going to know is give it a try.
ahhh. yes I know what it is...silly me....here call it medical Marijuana, my sister n law uses it. I have not...but my local GI recommended it. to try and help with my reduced appetite and nauseous feelings I am experiencing. I have slow motility in my G tracks and I have very little tolerance for foods. He put it in his note. My Boston motility GI said that she cannot recommend, hospital policy, but off the records thinks it would be a great option for me. So have not yet, mostly because I am still working and not sure even my job if I could. My sister in law sad that it helps her.
Many people recommended cannabis to me. Many. I was very resistant, but eventually I researched it as best I could and then experimented. It is legal here in Washington state, so that made it easier.
The good news is that it seems to work for most people. The bad news is that I'm not one of those people.
So.
What I learned is that CBD is the bit that will calm you down. But it didn't seem to do anything at all for me, positive or negative. I tried medibles, since I can't stand the smell of the smoke. I was told that I should have tried some form with THC in it to "potentiate" the CBD. So I tried various medibles with increasing amounts of THC. Nothing. I ended with something that was mostly THC and that I did have a reaction to. It was horrible. Set off a huge panic attack. A few days later I tried it again, and the same thing happened.
It seems that some people (a minority) are known to be predisposed to that reaction. No way to know, except to try.
There are two types of cannabis - indicia and sativa...and numerous hybrids of those two.
Some strains have been developed to increase the CBD and others the THC. And if you tried it thirty years ago in university and haven't had any since, you will be surprised to learn that it is now faaaaar more powerful by orders of magnitude.
There are numerous stories here in the states that have legalized it where old codgers tried some after years and were...ahem...bowled over by the new stuff.
I'd never tried it so I had nothing to compare it to.
I did learn that medibles - cannabis products you eat - come on very much slower and last considerably longer.
Many people speak glowingly of the results for calming anxiety - but not everyone gets the same response.
I have a small prescription for Ativan which I use for emergencies and it does work a charm to calm my symptoms. But that isn't something you want to take on a regular basis if you can avoid it. Cannabis, if it works for you, is far far safer.
I used to smoke but gave it up 6 months ago as it made me worse , my head space is bad enough without it and it also took away my apatite, I did little if anything to help with pain , feel much clear headed now and I'm eating again , although it didn't help me any I only speak for myself as it only made me more forgetful I need my brain to function as well as it can having FND doesn't help .
Hi, I too have tried cannabis, my dr recommended it to try but couldn't prescribe as not authorised in England, my partner managed to find someone who used it and made sure not meddled with, it did nothing for me either, it would help me to sleep quickly early hours of morning but couldn't get me past the usual 2 hours before I wake again in pain, it was worth a try as will try anything to improve.
try a strain called gorilla glue will help with pain ,insomnia, anxiety, appetite the list is endless with this strain start small though if your not used to it.
it helps more than any tablet ive gotten from the doc, ive limited mobility on my right leg and spasms n twitches aswell on right arm ,crippling hip ,spine, knee pain, severe migraines, numbness sensation of the whole right side head to toe, including genitals.
ive found this one strain works better than mixing 2 or 3 diff kinds for diff things as this helped with every one of my symptoms, i can even walk with one elbow crutch rather than 2, pain is reduced considerably, i even get some feeling back on certain areas , and pretty much cured my paranioa
i could go on all day about how much it helped me and i can only stress u try it out, obviously not as easy to find a particular strain in the uk, so if u can G.Y.O
I am so curious as well. However it is not legal in my state. But I did hear of a THC free option of CBD oil available from a place called Charlotte's Web out of I believe it was Colorado in the US. It is an all natural Oil. They grow it there, package it there, and CAN ship it to all states in the US as it is legal. I wonder about that. I would love to know if it would help the movements to calm down or not.
My son is 15 and used 25mg BID of charlottes web hemp (CBD) oil with complete remission of his tics and spasms (diagnosed as FND) It was close to miraculous and occurred about 1 hour after the first dose. I was a skeptic but am a believer now and am very thankful I decided to try it for him. He reports his subjective feelings of anxiety are much reduced as well.
