Hi No wonder you have had so many seizures because your under alot of stress and worry at the moment with your Dad. I'm taking this isn't normal activity for you by the sounds of you asking if you need to go to the Dr's. How are you feeling now? Do you feel you need to see a Dr? Personally I would just to get the all clear . Sending my love to you & your dad x
Its been a tough week for sure. I am goimg to see my own GP when i get home. I saw my mums GP and he stated i had to go back to the neuro.....deep joy...not lol
I would suggest seeing your GP. Have you had seizures before? Did anyone else see them or are you aware what was happening e.g. how you felt beforehand, how long it lasted, which body parts were affected?
Have you had an EEG before? I know they can be triggered by trauma. Really sorry to hear about your dad that must be terrible. Wishing him a speedy recovery. Make sure you look after yourself.
I don't want to be the bearer of bad news but do look up DVLA advice - I had seizures for the first time in July everyday for around a week and was told I am not allowed to drive for a year.
The info on neurosymptoms or Sheffield site about non-epileptic seizures may be helpful to read about grounding techniques etc.
Thanks for your reply. My sister and mum have been present for all incidents. I always felt so lucky to have all FND symptoms but not the seizures. It starts in my left arm then my head goes funny and apparently its my right arm, right leg and head thats is jerking around. I am literally unable to move or coordinate my right side. I sleep for 3 hours afterwards. It feels like my brain needs to reset and im confused.
I have recently been through DVLA medicals due to my eyes and am just waiting to hear if my licence is revoked. It will be now lol.
My guess would be that that's the stress as stress triggers my FND as well. I kind of feel there might be a connection between FND and low serotonin syndrome. It's just a theory I have. Does diet help you? I hope things get better for you soon it must be pretty hard all that.
Hi Caroline, agree with previous posts, see GP and play safe by not driving even for a week or two.
It's not only bad stress that seems to trigger seizures, it appears anything that invokes a strong emotional response can set them off. We seem to be hyper sensitive or at least our bodies/minds are. Don't think we can separate the two as one has a profound effect on the other.
On a practical level I would suggest you try and delegate a bit. Ask for a bit of help from those around you. Even getting the washing done or a bit of shopping, try to make room for you so you can spend more time with your Dad if that's where you want to be. You are probably having an overload of emotions and worries.
Relaxation, meditation, mindfulness and yes even exercise can help relieve unwanted feelings/sensations.
It's a hard time for you and the family and I wish you a speedy recovery.
Yes I can relate to the confusion and need to sleep! When I first had a seizure I didn't know my own name or where I was for about 5 hours. I always sleep for ages too. I've taken up mindfulness and enjoy the headspace app as someone else recommended on here. Do try and delegate as suggested above and treat yourself to a bath or something else relaxing x
kjkla 85 i too end up sleeping ages after an episode , and i too use relaxation music when every i start to feel stressed out and its helped me to stay calm. from having four fits in one week in june to going to having one every now and then.
try using baby step on everything you do and stop beating yourself up if you don't get everything done like fly lady would stay . has helped me to keep motivated and also eased some of the stress that i've put on myself.
diet if i think im going to bad i try to boost my feel good treats as quick as possible as it helps my fit from happening .
