FND Cure!

Hello all

Does anyone have any experience with relief of "alleged MND" having taken prednisolene for a coincidental health issue? After 24 hours taking this medication all my symptoms disappear completely. And within 48 hours of finishing a course of the steroids my symptoms are back???

Am very doubtful of my MND diagnosis!

Hi, I have spasmodic dysphonia, as well as dystonia, and possible fnd symptoms. I was unable to talk but in a whisper for 8 years. At the 8 year mark I developed a terrible bladder issue and was put on an anti-biotic, nitrofurantoin, within several days I was able to talk. They kept me on this medicine for a year, at the end of that time, I went off, and could not speak again. Thus they put me back on it, symptom free. It makes no sence to them or me, but it works. I am currently symptom free using, sinemet, and primidone. I will occasionally have flare ups, but otherwise am completely normal. I have to be careful not to overdue, fatigue and stress, and my biggest flare factors. I don't believe in all this fnd, and have been very vocal about it. Yes our minds are not transmitting correct, but most of us have an underlying health reason for it. My symptoms started RIGHT after a brain surgery with a spinal fluid leak. Hope all this info helps you somehow. Good luck, and never stop searching and probing. God Bless, Cathy

Cathy am agreeing with you regarding FND labelling. It seems to me a cost effective get out to me.

Good to hear you become symptom free , thats great. It also gives some credence to my own thoughts and experience.

Encouraging.

I have a similar story

I was given a very high dos of an antibiotic for another reason.

within hours, it was as if a miracle had happened!

and I had become 30 years younger!

I could do things that I hadnt been able to do easliy for many years!

- And although i had been having great difficulty even walking up the stairs, (and couldnt make it to the top,either..)

after I began the antibiotic, ;i could **run** up them!

I was running up and down all day and into the evening,i was so amazed and excited!

This was on top of doing many jobs that had not been done,as it was too much of a str;uggle to do them.

However,as soon as I finished the course of antibiotics (3 days) I was immediatley back to my former state!:(

This has remained unexplained:(

Ditto. After being on a course of prednisolene i was jumping up and down on the stairs laughing with joy. It was incredible feeling to feel normal again with no pain or crippling walking. But after the course finished i was straight back to being very disabled. This has happened on 3 different occasions when i have been prescribed steroids for an unrelated problem....

Prednisolone and antibiotics both affect the immune system. FND has been described asan auto immune disorder. When the immune system attacks the body it interrupts the nerve messages by changing the chemicals in the brain. Prednisone supresses the bodies auto immune response hence your conditions get better. Antibiotics interfere with the bodies immune system and target certain bacteria. You can request a low dose steroid to counter act your symptoms but be prepared for all the side affects!

Thank you for your response. I had felt strongly that there was a link with auto immune disorder. Your response has given me some strength in my belief. Is your information source available that i may use it in making a request for it with supporting evidence regarding auto immune disorder.

Many thanks
