Oncolytic virus strikes again

Ok it's the Daily Mail, but I have checked also other sources 😜

A groundbreaking study used a modified Newcastle disease virus, known as NDV-GT, to target cancer cells and stimulate the immune system. The therapy showed promise across multiple advanced cancer types, with the majority of patients experiencing tumor shrinkage or halted growth after a few months of treatment. Researchers altered the virus to coat cancer cells with a sugar that human antibodies attack, triggering an immune response.

While results were encouraging, further clinical trials are needed to confirm its safety and effectiveness. Oncolytic virus therapy, including NDV-GT, represents a potentially transformative approach to treating cancer by focusing on genetic traits rather than tumor location.

I don't know why but I find this kind of research to be more interesting than research around radioligands.

because we are more used to have viruses (and bacteria) inside our bodies rather than radioactive compounds! :-P
