Anti-Androgen Tx and Bone Tumors, Enhanced RT using iodine nanoparticles, Enhancing the immune response, and Cowpea mosaic virus for a cure?

Hello FPC members,

Recently, some news has come out regarding anti-androgen therapy and the development of bone tumors in PCa. It would seem that in some circumstances per the article, some anti-androgens may fuel the spread of bone tumors. Finding the DNA markers to identify individuals at risk using Casodex and Xtandi will be key in avoiding that problem.

Next, Researchers develop an iodine based nanoparticles that when irradiated were able to destroy a tumor in 3 days. Nanoparticle technology continues to develop and I look for nanoparticles to play a much bigger role in oncology for the future.

Next up, blocking the activity of Tregs (T regulatory cells) to allow the immune system to keep up the fight. One of the issues in cancer treatments is that T Regulatory cells may impair the immune response, so by blocking Tregs the immune response should be enhanced and prolonged.

Last but not least, I had posted about the abscopal effect and prolonging it may lead to cures. The Cowpea mosaic virus may be the answer. In studies done with dogs, an incurable oral cancer injected with the virus and irradiated did not come back in all of the test subjects. This allows a "cold" tumor to become "hot". Will this be part of the answer to cancer??

The company, Mosaic IE, will begin testing the nanoparticle CPMV in Phase 1 trials at the end of this year or early next year. Some info:

The Science is coming... and it gives us....HOPE !!!

There has been continuous good results on some of these studies whereas the agent being studied is injected directly into the tumors from what I've come across... This bypasses all the constraints and other biology that prevents the agents from entering cells. I guess it mimic's the petri dish, lol, but in vivo?

Interesting and hopefully a good way to wack a mole method when all others fail. Problem will still be finding those lesions!

That is the beauty of the abscopal effect--no need to find other tumors as the immune system is like a bird dog released in a field of grouse. It will track them down. Prolonging the effect is key and the CPMV injected intratumorally was able to provide a prolonged effect, giving direction to the immune system. This has REAL potential....All IMHO....

6+ years ago I began with CASTRATION (surgical ADT 👍👍😀) then my GL10 tumor was Cryoablated (abscopal effect) then 7 months later my 3 drug Immunotherapy injection (in situ) the previously ablated tumor then 1 month later I began my Testosterone injections (maybe a DUMBASS move ???) BUT still here and kicking ARSE the best I can.

e.g. -- 71st Birthday Bicycle Ride on 7/10 was 115 miles. Maybe not actually kicking arse but it was a fair amount of pedaling arse AND the castration made the ride a whole lot more comfortable!!! ( -⚾⚾ = 👍👍)

Nice update from our local Science Guru, Fish-Er-Man. 🎣

As a possible beneficiary of some spillover abscopal effect from my PCa IMRT to my CLL, I was especially interested in the one about dogs. Grazie, K9 terror 🐶

K9 terror,

This is one I will keep watching....Mosaic IE's work may hold significant potential for those who have run out of treatments, and let us not forget that the possibility exists to use an immunotherapy drug or an immune reaction stimulator like GM-CSF with the CPMV nanoparticles intratumorally. The plot thickens in a fabulous way... Ahhh, the Science...
