Drugs change....

Just wondering if anyone is on mirtazapine, I've been changed onto it from citalapram. Have a few side effects and was wondering what others have found...

Hi I was on this only for a month, felt foggy and light headed all the time and have put a stone on in weight. Really not happy with that. I have come of that and am now on amitriptalin but believe u can gain weight with this also ahhhhhhhh! X

Hi, I was was mirtazapine some time back and like you I put on weight that I couldn't cope with so changed to Cipralex . I am on amitriptyline too but as my GP says, weight gain doesn't effect everyone and it also depends on the amount you are taking, if you are on a relatively low dose then you are less likely to experience weight gain, than if you were on a higher dose.

I am on a high dosage of Amitryptiline and have been so for years.

I can honestly say I have not put on a ounce in weight.

Ami is notorious for giving one a sweet tooth.

So I was aware of this from the start and controlled my intake of all things sweet.

But it is not fool proof and confess that I have given in on many occasions and

Succumbed to a king size Mars bar, or Black Forest gateau!!

Took this over 12 years ago, I think. Put on a couple of stone in weight. Eventually didn't help with depression or FM. Keep changing meds for depression every few years. Now on ESCITALOPRAM but hasn't worked for 3 years ago GP refuses to change it. Tried going to local psych team and they were useless even thou I was crying my eyes out.
