Hi selbykat

Could you tell us a little more about what treatment you are/aren't getting?

Have you seen the About Fibro information on the FibroAction website?

Hi I was diagnosed in Jan but felt ill for 7 yrs two years ago I was so ill they kept telling me low ferritin at the doctors . I knew it was something like this. I have been told recently by a doctor that the treatment doesn't work. Think I was told that to shut me up. I was actually sat infront of this GP with a sick bowl and a glass of water . I have been eating organic and using natural remedies . No caffeine or alcohol . I eat small low carb meals 5 or 6 times a day. I have lactose free milk and no sugar. If I use sugar I have raw cane sugar the dark millasas one on porridge . I don't eat wheat and I have felt better in myself it just helps . I will have natural remedies ginger garlic other foods that I know works . Try eat balanced meals . Plenty of vedge Dnt over do it on the fruit . Only have natural sugars but still be careful . No puddings ice creams cakes biscuits ect. It doesn't help your body. I've had to do this because I was very ill over Christmas . It's worked for me. If I have to I will take meds , I've been prescribed Lycra . I havnt actually taken it yet. As I feel not so bad and can bear the pain. I've head pain clinics are good for some . Acupuncture helps loads of people for pain. I get warm baths a lot for pain . I do sympathise a lot and understand the pain. I have felt this for such a long time they kept fobbing me off at the doctors for years. Just look around search the web. There some great books out there and push for pain clinic if you havnt been told there available they are. I've never been to one yet so I don't know how it works x

Here is some info on Fibro:

fibroaction.org/Pages/About...

You can also look up Fibromyalgia on the NHS Choices website.

Strong opioids are not a recommended treatment for Fibro, not least because they cannot work as effectively in someone with Fibro and would not usually provide good symptom management. You may want to talk to your GP about alternatives that may be more effective.

Also, the most effective treatment for Fibro is often through a multidisciplinary approach, using medications, complementary and supportive therapies, and lifestyle adaptations. It is rare that one approach alone can manage Fibro in the best way possible.
