Somehow I'm still here!

Hi all, thanks for all your kind replies to my previous blogs, sorry I haven't answered individually but I haven't had broadband until now, so I'm frantically trying to catch up with my mail.

The move went anything but smoothly. I had to find a new removal firm at very short notice & almost double the cost.

I was packing almost up untill they were due, then they didn't arrive! It was a dangerously icy day so I thought that they might be having trouble getting to me, next problem - no phone, it had been accidentally packed. No probs, I'd use my mobile - no phone number, it was in my file of important info that my helpful friend had packed. Directory inquries to use my friends phone - couldn't remember the firms name!!!!!

Eventually they did get to me & the move went ahead ( except they had to do two trips)

Next problem - no electric so not evn a calming cuppa! 5 hours later an electrician arrived & all was ok. So there I was that evening, alone, no tv or music, surrounded by a mountain of boxes & in tremendous pain 'cos I misplaced my meds! I felt dreadful!

The next few days passed in a whirl of unpacking & trying to win a constant battle with the miles of bubble wrap (great stuff but it must breed when packed, I swear more came out than went in!

First thing Monday it was all the necessary phone calls ie housing benefit, DLA,ESA, new GP etc. I felt quite pleased with myself but that was the preverbial lull before the storm.

On 17th Dec only 4 days after I moved I received a letter fron ESA telling me that my claim had been suspended due to non advising of new adress, a battle ensued with housing benefit joining in too. Christmas didn't feel quite as liberating as I'd hoped. When I was able to contact them after the break the announced that "oh yes, that was sorted out, it seems you did notify us after all" Apparently it had been sorted out before Christmas but it didn't occur to them to tell me!

Lots more niggles but I've rabbited too long already. I intended having an early night because I've got an appointment with the memory clinic in the morning, whoops, eye hospital, memory clinic is Wed I think.

I'll let you know how I get on. then if it's not too boring I can tell you about the electric & broadband problems that I've had to face.

The strangest thing though is that I love it here already xxx

They say moving along with getting married are the too most stressful things you can do

Well done, it sounds like everything went well apart from the odd hiccup. I would pat yourself on the back for sorting out all the problems and on your own too.

I love the comment about bubble wrap, I think you could be right :-) I hope everything continues in the right direction now.

Keep us updated.

Sounds like you've done really well. Nothing seems to go as it should these days. The main thing is in your last sentence. You've found your home where you can be happy, feels safe. Took me 40+ years to find mine, and with all my problems, be-it ever so humble there's no place like home!

Wish you the very best in your new home. :) xx

Well done for getting through so well Cobweb and it's lovely to see you popping in here and telling us all about it.

Make sure you rest and take care of yourself. It's easy to over look this when there's a lot going on in our lives.

Let us know how everything goes for you, I hope you settle in well.

Loved the bubble wrap comment too! :) We moved last late Autumn and still have boxes around!

Take care. (((hug))) xxx

A very stressful time I know, as I have done it 3 times and I do not intend doing it again anytime soon. I hope things settle and I am so glad you love it there xxxxx
