I Feel So Cold!!

Kirby profile image

Is it just me? I know that we are sensitive to temperature and weather but today I feel so cold in my house even with the heating on. The outside temperature doesn't seem too bad for November, not that I've been out in it today but I looked it up. I just hate being cold!

I do too Kirby! I am sat here with the heating on with more clothes than you could possibly imagine on -, two pairs of socks, thermal leggings, trousers, thermal camisole, t-shirt, thicker long sleeved top, cardigan, fleece hoody! Sometimes I even have my thermal fingerless gloves on too! I am permanently cold - the bizarre thing is that I am actually warmer outside, I really can't work that one out lol! ;) :P

Being cold is the worst thing I agree Kirby! (((hug))) xxxx

That's heart-warming to know, Libs! That I'm not the only one!! Yes, I only have one pair of socks but they are fleece-lined and have a hot water bottle with me permanently! I have leggings and trousers, fleece hoody underneath jumper and beneath the fleece several layers. I also wear these armlets thinks that keep my wrists warm!

((hugs))

Armlets! Now that's a good idea! I will look on Ebay lol! :)

I absolutely hate from November through to May as I am soooooooooooooo cold, I don't like wishing time away as none of us are getting any younger, but the cold makes everything feel so much worse doesn't it. Can't sleep, can't function well, feel permanently tired and worn out, the list seems endless doesn't it.

I love it when the trees start showing their buds and the daffodils and Spring bulbs burst through the soil, that's when I know we're on the right side of it and brighter days lie ahead! :)

Keep as warm as you can Kirby, you certainly aren't the only one feeling so cold. Bless you.

Thanks so much, Libs! Yes, I hate the cold too, more and more the older I get! Mind you, I'm not tolerant of too much heat either, lol, but just wasn't a problem this summer gone!

Well, I'm off to snuggle up in bed with my two duvets and hot water bottle!

Stay warm.

i've been cold all day too. in fact, i usually feel cold, especially my feet and hands and nose. my poor hubby has to warm my feet up every night, haha, even with socks and slippers on, they're frozen.

Hi everyone. Yes I too get freezing cold no matter what it's doing outside. Welcome to the "Fibro Freeze". Does anyone know if there is any Government/Charity help with heating costs, as it's costing me a small fortune?

Hi Warren

Yes, there's something called Warm Home Discount Scheme but all energy suppliers have their own criteria. I'm trying to switch as mine's useless :-( But the Warm Home Discount is on a first come, first serve basis. If you google it will come up with the government site, then they'll have a list of energy suppliers who run the scheme for vulnerable customers.

Is your thyroid okay as low temperature/feeling cold is a symptom of Hypothyroidism?

Karen

Thanks Karen (and everyone else). How do you check if you've got hypothyroidism? When I had my diagnosis they did all sorts of blood tests but I assumed that if my thyroid was dodgy they'd have told me. But I have heard that thyroid problems can have similar problems to Fibro. x

WARM HOME DISCOUNT info, please click on the link below -

THYROID CHECK - Besides doing a blood test, it's simply a series of observations made by the doctor. It's a very comfortable setting, so don't worry. The most invasive part of the procedure is equivalent to a massage on the front part of your neck. The doctor will just ask questions such as if you have noticed any fluctuations in weight recently, how you compare to others with regards to if you feel excessively hot or cold in certain environments. He/she will ask if you noticed any changes in hair distribution or texture, and he'll probably ask to look at your throat while you swallow once or twice. It's simple and it's fast.

Hope this helps regarding any queries about checking our Thyroids. :)

The doctor does the tests - you can ask him or the receptionist if it's been checked and get the results too.

Thanks for all your replies. Sorry to hear, Akram. Yes, I wear layers too and always have a hot water bottle with me all day at this time of year. Maybe you should try a different GP who is more sympathetic if you can.

Take care

Kirby xx

I found it was useful to tell the doc that sometimes *I* wonder if it's all in my head but that then I realised that actually, it's NOT normal to feel how I feel. once i said all that (ok, i admit, there were tears too) I was taken seriously and immediately investigations started.

I'm often cold when sitting watching TV or on the computer. It's my birthday next week and my daughter just bought me a 'slanket' it's like a fleece blanket with sleaves and a pocket at the front. You just slip it on over your clothes etc. It has long sleaves that cover your hands and although it's very light it is so warm and snuggly. She also bought me a pair of warm furry slippers and a Kindle cover all three are in Zebra print and are lovely. She said you can get the slankets on Ebay for less than £5. Something to put on your Christmas Wish List?

Yes, I have seen those Slankets - sometimes they have different names! I wear lots of layers but once I get cold I need the air to be warm around me if you know what i mean as in a heater! I went singing today for the first time in a few weeks and had a bit if a run-in with someone who just opened the window because she was hot and after I while I closed it and she wasn't happy!
