Hi Benjamina.

If you're placed in the support group of ESA then it's not means tested, but for those in the WRAG group it becomes means tested after 365 days . Hope that helps.

There have been literally hundred of posts on ESA on here so it would probably be quite difficult to find a specific one.

Hi,May i point out that any form of benefit will be reassessed in April 2013.I was put into the support group and i have to go back to atos in April to be reassessed but i was told that in dwp letter once given the result of medical.X Jo

Yes, sadly jolow even those in the support group won't escape constant retesting . But if they are assessed as still needing to be in the support group after reassessment they will continue to receive ESA .

Those placed in the WRAG group however will only receive ESA for 365 days and it will then move to means tested ESA , so if you had for instance a working partner, a house or some other form of income your money will stop.

Of course , all of this will go out of the window anyway when the Universal Credit is brought in because the government will then umbrella ALL benefits and will set a limit as to how much each family needs to live on. This will include working tax credits, Housing and council tax benefits, disability , JSA , carer's allowance etc.

It's a scary and uncertain time for us all.

Thank you for your help...it was document she had printed off the DWP website...referring to ICB to ESA..and the fact was the terms remained the same or words to that effect..but it seems they move the goalposts everyday and we are all regardless of how many years of working deemed to be left with nothing...thank you again...

* by have a house I mean a house that brings in income, not a house you're living in. Just wanted to make that clear !

Incapacity Benefit has never been means tested, (unless of course you are in receipt of any personal or occupational pension on top, then the amount of benefit you receive will be effected by how much pension you get, unless you come under tansitional agreements in place where by, if you were in receipt of a pension and incapacity benefit prior to 2001 then it may not be effected)

if you go over to ESA straight from IB that wont be means tested either, but what the others above have said depending on which group you are put in, if the WRG then after 365 days it will be means tested. I believe the sum i stlll £16,000 but dont quote me on that you need to check with DWP/ESA dept

They don't say much ..occupational pension...I have a company PHI that they have known about since 2005 .and not means tested..does this mean that the company PHI will now come under occupational pension ??? As its not a pension..Ive seen another DWP document that shows people have appealed to remain on ICB instead of ESA and won and that remains with the t&c's...am at a loss..my MP a Tory hasn't even had the decency to reply to an email 5 weeks old to the DWP where he has seen the deception and obvious misleading answers to which on half of them they won't answer....yes..they are ALL IN THIS TOGETHER....is quite frankly sickening ....
