I think you need to get it checked again, it doesn't sound right, can you ask your consultant for an emergency appointment?

keep in touch.

I agree with Sandra, this needs checking out. You could have torn ligaments in your accidents which would account for your leg giving on you. I did that a long time ago. But even now my leg gives and the damage is healed. Let us know how you get on tomorrow xxxxx

It is probably torn ligaments - treatment is RICE, Rest, Ice (probably too late now), Compresion (ie tubigrip or crepe bandage) and Elevation. I also find regular rubbing to help the blood flow helps. I'm nursing torn ligaments in the arch of my right foot at the moment ... at least the wobbly bits under the skin feeling has gone now :-)

Important to check with the doctor though. In any case next time it gives way I would go to A&E and ask them to re x-ray it because you are worried something may have been missed the last time.

As everyone else has said, it does sound like torn ligaments (possibly cruciates, inside the knee joint), and they take ages to heal, and will always have a weakness, unfortunately. Definitely go back to the GP, ask for a second x-ray, and - if all is clear - see about going to physio.

Good luck! xx
