There has been some mention that people with FM have problems with their brains. Do you believe this?

yep cognative functioning is a problem for people with FM thats a fact they call it brian fog it can b very frightening ,im terrible i forget things n i feel confused sometimes n have lack of concentration .soft hugs tofty x

For me i believe in B12 see they symptoms on a low B12 can effect the brain. I have a book by Sally pacholok also see b12d.org I feel as my nan, mum, me (the worst effected) and even my 10 yr old with symptoms, that had I had drank more (spent my life not drinking.. maybe 300ml max a day) and B12 deficient is the reason I am ill now, had I drank more and had access to B12 sooner I might not have been ill, but its all supposition and just a journey of myself that have brought me here ??? I had glandular fever when I was 7 too,but is FM a catchment syndrom when they dont know what else to say ?? and do we all have the same reason to have FM??.

But yes brain fog a major issue for me xx

i think it has affected my brain and as you say it is sometimes frightening, when i forget things or get confused it makes me get a bit panicky, i feel i have lost some of me. x

Put it this way . My brain used to be as sharp as a tack . I had an excellent memory and was a very organised person.

Over the last few years I have immense difficulty with short term memory , I forget where I'm supposed to be, what I'm supposed to be doing, people's names and even the names of common objects at times.

My head feels like a cloud lives in there and that I'm just peeping round it sometimes.

It's not dementia it's just fog , but although I laugh about it most of the time it does get annoying !

Hi dizzyduck,

I have believed it since I was diagnosed and researched it. I have had more arguments with consultants about the mis-naming of the condition, on that basis, than I care to remember.

I have just watched the presentation on you tube and it is one of the best I have seen in support of the theory.

it is a possibility as i have shrinkage on one side not with drink as the result of an earlier illness and even i get fog as sometimes i am in so much pain it confuses me and it affects me sometimes so its possible as some of my symptoms have been linked to my childhood illness and it could be a mild malfunction of the brain hugs xxx
