just had a call my carers start next week, Ive been given 3 times a day 9.30am, 12.30 and 5.30, never thought Id get that much, and the council are paying for it all

Brilliant news!

Social services get a bad rep but they can be wonderful. My council-paid-for carers and aids were a lifeline when I was really sick.

I had a struggle with feeling like that too when I first has help. Same times as you. You so deserve it. All who live with chronic pain should have help.

After a few years I was getting quite upset as there were 11 people coming and sometimes they sent a man in the morning, the times went to pot too. A Social Services Manager called to see me and told me of Direct Payments / Independent Living. I now employ my own PA and life has changed so much. She helps with all the things that made the condition worse like heavy lifting, over reaching. We have put some of the hours together and make some calls shorter so we can go shopping or cook a good meal which I really missed. Is a real joy as she brings me a coffee to take my morning meds and is real fun to have around.

I am now able to do things that I enjoy as she has done the daily essentials. Because of this I have now been able to join a local Disability Committee and intend to make our plight known throughout this Council' planning and policy groups. It has surprised me how little the Disability committee had known of Chronic pain and limitations. A lot of their understanding was that they just could not manage certain things!
