Don't you just hate it when your suffering with fibromyalgia & it falls on deaf ears πWhen others tell you it's all in your head or you will get over it soon π‘.
I personally hate ignorance from others, but there again reading up on fibromyalgia can be like reading the novel War & Peace βοΈ.
Us here on the site at least can exchange our personal views & share.
I've found that chatting/talking can help with fibromyalgia as connectiviness helps stimulate the mind body & soul.
So a simple heart warming distraction goes along way as such.
Don't think π€ I'm ever going to stop researching fibromyalgia although research at present shows no medication to wipe it out etc completely.
So to some it up (Connection Is Vital)
If you know someone local to you with the same condition then try & reach out to them ππππ

I don't really care what other people think about my health issues. Then again I don't care what their opinion is about my haircut or dress sense either.
Fibromyalgia isn't that difficult to explain but is difficult for folk to understand which applies to most "obscure" conditions.
If we don't understand the causes of our "phantom" pain how can we expect people who don't suffer from it to?
I could spend hours trying to explain my heart condition to someone without medical qualifications and they would stare blankly and be lost in a sea of long words and complicated symptoms but if I pull up my T-shirt and show them my massive "zipper" scar they understand immediately. Fibromyalgia doesn't have such a stark indicator.
I am also reluctant to dismiss the "Mental Health" angle for two reasons...
First, the fact that Fibromyalgia often appears following traumatic events either physical or emotional which may indicate a connection with PTSD.
Second, I do not understand the source of my pain or the fact that conventional (and snake oil) therapies do not ease it. If I can't identify or treat the source of my pain then why shouldn't it be "in my head"...It wouldn't make the pain any less severe nor any less real.
I think the protests that it isn't a "Mental Health issue" owe more to the stigma attached to mental health than any medical expertise which is ironic considering some fibromyalgia sufferers often feel that their condition is also stigmatised.
If there are any anti-psychotic drugs out there which will stop me having unexplained and untreatable pains then sign me up!
Yeah it's hard for other to understand what we go though because it's not obvious they can't see it but I don't care about what people think hope you have blessed day πβ€οΈ
