I was diagnosed this year and still trying to get treatment correct and also come to terms with the fact I can't do what I used to. Every day is a struggle with pain and exhaustion. I appreciate I've had quite a lot of time off work with this and losing my Dad to leukaemia in October last year. However I didn't appreciate my firm asking if I wanted voluntary redundancy..... I've been there 10 years worked hard and right now need some understanding and support. Why does nobody understand how debilitating this condition is. I'm 52 live alone with my beautiful furbabies and I cannot afford to give up work. Apologies all, rant over just so hurt by the question.

Fibro rant
Hello, very sorry to hear of your loss, a lot too go threw and feeling so unwell with this horrid condition, I do wish they was more support for you as you’ve given them 10 years of hard work and right now you feel let down, we need too rant and let it all out as many here will totally understand how you are feeling right now. People out there who are not affected by Fibro either with a family member or friend or have the condition themselves wont relate. I am glad you have your fur babies for comfort. I hope your doctor is working with you on getting the right help very soon xx
Hi, I can totally see why you're feeling hurt with your employer's offer of voluntary redundancy, I would be too. On top of recently losing your dad no wonder your pain is bad.
If you're not in a union, now would be a good time to get some advice. Citizens advice should be able to help you. Knowledge is definitely Power.
The Equality Act comes into play for Fibromyalgia so you do have a certain level of protection.
Have you had an Occupational Health Appointment for your Fibro? If not, you could perhaps request one as a way of getting back to work.
If your employer is fully aware of your illness they need to be careful they are doing everything possible (within reason) to keep you employed.
Hope you get some good advice and feel able to work again in some capacity. Take care x
Thank you I am currently under the occupational health doctor but it all seems to be unheard. My boss still has it in her head it's just menopause.... I had an hysterectomy at 42 totally ridiculous plus I've been diagnosed by a Rheumatologist.
I am so sorry to hear what you are going through. I also had a hysterectomy in my 40s and still wonder if that triggered the fibro. Anyway, thats by the by, what I would suggest is you contact your local union rep, regardless of whether or not you're currently a member, and ask their advice. My union rep was invaluable when I my boss threatened me with dismissal. I wish you well
