struggling to sleep
Morning so sorry too read about not sleeping , I went threw this a few years back and it can leave you feeling very low, what’s your health system like over there? Do you have a doctors surgery near by ? Just hope you can get the right help very quickly and let medical staff know how low you have got, do you think it’s tinnitus in your ears ? Sending my heartfelt thoughts over too you xx
I have a G P doctor and private doctors from my health insurance. But this fibromyalgia no many people and doctors understand much about . I red that tinnitus is one of the symptoms. I’m confused with everything and people they don’t understand what I’m going through. That you all
It does sound very much like tinnitus, something that was picked up on my visit to Hearing centre(Specsavers here) I found keeping out of loud places ie where music is playing very loud as it sets it off . It’s a shame if they are not educated on this condition, and depending where you live in Portugal if they can refer you too somewhere in the Country too see a Rheumatologist, sorry if I’m not being much help but just reaching out and listening x
Good morning, I agree with YASMINTINA the bell noise (ringing in the ears) sounds like tinnitus. It really must be horrible for you.
Have you seen a doctor about it? If not then I would strongly advise you to get your ears checked out and make an appointment to see your doctor. They hopefully will be able to help with the noise in your ears 🤞

Good morning
Thank you for your message! Yes a have seen the doctors and they saothat it’s is tinnitus but that there’s no treatment for that. They also referred me to the socialist. There’s a 1 years waiting waitlist to see the specialist.
I believe sometimes there can be help for tinnitus. My best friend suffered very badly from it a few years back and it was starting to affect her.mental health. She was referred to a hearing specialist at her local hospital after a referral from her GP. They fitted what was called a "masking" hearing aid which sent a totally different sound into her ear, it was though her ear was being retrained. She wore it for about a year and found in her case it worked and she never complains about it now and her hearing is perfect. Hope you can get some help.x
thank you very much. I just have to wait for the hospital to call me. I’m on the waiting list and that can take up to 1 year . Thank you x
I know its bad, I have a gremlin with a jackhammer on the top of my skull, also My ears are going through a deaf period that is even more annoying than the tinnitus because it goes piiiinng every so often I read that noise cancelling headphones may help.
Plus I am being boiled alive. But since I just had a shower the gravy smells nice.
I just think about those poor kids in Ukraine and elsewhere when I feel sorry for myself.
Humans are such gits.
Snap been up all night with pain had kidney stones blasted thos week and am very limited with pain relief travelling to London this morning I will be dead on my feet by the time I arrive hoping I manage the few days away with family I was so close to cancelling but didn't want to disappoint the kids
Hi emacosta, I truly empathise, you are not on your own, we are all like one big family of understanders. Can relate to exhaustion have you tried a weighted blanket over you quilt at bedtime, really helps, amazon sell them. I get occasionally tinnitus, it's awful, but only got it when fib began. Ultra sensitive to noise as well. Please feel you can reach out to us anytime so we can help you through this, change Dr, maybe get referrals for more support. Maybe even cbt may help, vand yoga. Remember we are all here for you, sending kindness your way, hugs and kisses xxxx
Hi Emacosta,
I know exactly how you feel and know how frustrating it can be,sometimes I don't realise the swooshy was there all afternoon until it stops, Other times I've given myself a migraine with the constant very high pitched continued noise, I don't have any rest from it until before bed I take all my meds and sleepy time tablets, So fall into a nice sleep, Ah bliss....
Then Fibro kicks in and starts shouting at me,
WAKE UP! YOU'VE HAD 3.5 hrs HOW DARE YOU TRY REST!
I am so ridiculously tired
Luckily Hubby and me have our room each, what with the restless legs as well as the tinitus ,we decided it would be better than disturbing each other, (my Hubby had a disecting aeorta, 8years ago, No surgery yet he probally wouldn't survive the surgery, consultant's words not mine, I digress sorry)
My Hubby gets it too but he was prescribed anti-depression tabs and he says he still gets it,just not as bad, Apparently I am already on enough medication to fell a cow, Me and my headphones help a bit,
I hope you get some relief soon
take care (sorry about the spelling)
Hi Ema... You don't say which tablets you take for getting to sleep... is not falling to sleep an ongoing problem even with the tablets? Not sleeping can make you feel very down & depressed... and vice versa.. Sounds as though the ringing in the ears could be tinnitus.
There's an article on that on web md - possible reasons why you have tinnitus, which is quite informative. You might find there's something on there which you can identify with.
Have you discuss your feelings of depression with your GP, if not I suggest you do as it maybe that a medication change might help or they may be able to refer you to someone who can help with your depression.
We all get down days and being in constant pain is so debilitating at times. Please don't let it go on, there is help for you, you might have to knock on a few doors before you get the right kind.
In the meantime, keep talking to us. Take care of yourself. x
will do thank you x
Hi
I took clonazepam for many years for my T for sleep
Then, luckily/unluckily found the answer
Which was, it’s not the actual T that’s the problem
It’s the rating you give it
To put it simply, if you dwell on anything, T included, your perception and rating of it will go sky high
So, try as I did, helicopter up and see life’s far worse problems that others have to suffer
So, now, when I think how much worse my problems could be, that drops my T rating to Zero
Please see my own T post for the details
Thanks
Persevere99
Hi
If you focus on your own problems, T for example, then for sure the rating you give your T will be very high.
So, try doing what helped me? That is, think of others’ far worse problems and that will hopefully make your T less of a problem.
All the best
Persevere99
okay!I will try it. Thanks a lot.
Hi Emacosta I've had tinnitus for over 40 years. you should ask Dr for ENT Consultant referral. as most ENT departments have Tinnitus specialists. But my best advise is try no to focus on the noise. listen to relaxing music, (with headphones) meditation/hypnotherapy lots of stuff free on YouTube, it's also been suggested to me to associate your noise with something physical, my right ear noise is like a hum, I associate that with being on an aeroplane. my left ear noise much louder is high pitched whistle I associate this with whistling Kettle, but really best to distract from noise you benefit from a sound machine at night or a fan in the room, I read a book until my eyes close, I totally get the Tinnitus and Pain lead to poor sleep but the more you stress about it the worse things get, warm bath before bed, lavender sleep spray helps. just know your not alone and reach out when things get tough 🇬🇧
yes I’m always with the to on or earphones otherwise I can’t cope with quite room or house. Most the time I get stressed and annoyed with people is that normal? They really frustrates me specially my boyfriend it’s really weird tho . Love xx
Hi there, I was wondering have you spoke with anyone on a forum that specificaly deals with tinnitus? I am just wondering if they could offer you more hands on help and information. You may find this helpful here on HU

Sounds like you have tinnitus. See your doctor. He/she may recommend a hearing test. Hope you find a solution soon 😀
I have tinnitus, and I lost over 80% of my hearing in left ear. My whole left side is very much affected by all the conditions I have. Either way Ear-Nose-Throat clinic done MRI scan of my head and sent me for hearing test. I have to say that my hearing aid helps me a lot during the day with the tinnitus. At the night times I use ear plugs and it seems to be better. Unfortunately sleepless nights (and days) and caused by them exhaustion makes the tinnitus way worse.I have a suggestion for you, please try it for a month and hopefully it'll help you a little.
Switch off TV, internet and your mobile 3h before bed time. Try to relax and don't think about the stressful life you may lead. Let your brain calm down, without any noices from radio, Alexa, TV etc.
Just totally quite environment.
I'm practicing it with my younger child for last 4 months and it helped me a little with my insomnia.
I have tried and didn’t work for me if I’m quite in the room my hears get really louder and I find very difficult to concentrate the pain all over my body and head I get overwhelmed and that’s it . I go like that tossing in the bed getting up for toilet over and over all night.
