Thank you for sharing the research. I genuinely believe the medical profession lag behind when it comes to fibromyalgia. I think this guideline should be in front of every GP and physiotherapist printed in BOLD. I only had a quick glance, fibro preventing me to indulge myself into this paper 😪
Yes, I'd previously read this. I think (as with some other disorders), that it's good as far as it goes with the current medical understanding of fibro.
It's good to see mention that fibro does not always cause widespread pain, isn't a diagnosis of exclusion, & therefore fibro can co-exist with other disorders, &, importantly, a description of nociplastic pain.
I hope it will educate other specialists rather than just rheumatologists, & will be a work in progress.
I had to smile at the reference to 'allowing sufficient time' when making a diagnosis, as so often very little time is given by GPs, & sometimes even specialists, with a patient's appointments!
I was pleased to see mention that not only ME, but also the hypermobile type of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome can overlap with fibro.
Really worth reading if you are going for a DWP interview
Thanks for putting this information out there. So worth reading.
very very interesting. I wonder how many doctors will bother to read these papers. its so worth reading, at last some medics understand what its like to have fibro
