who diagnoses fibromyalgia? I’m new here 👋

I am currently going through some tests at hospital, I have just had my bloods done and I’m due for a CT scan soon.

For so long I’ve been in pain, my lower back, my shoulder, my hips, my neck. I have lost a lot of weight, have RLS, rubbish sleep. Keep getting UTI’s. IBS. I wake up exhausted. Im crying as I’m writing this because I’ve had hardly any sleep and I just know I’m going to have another day of pain. But I can’t rest because I have 4 beautiful energetic children.

I haven’t researched this, but I wondered if fibromyalgia could cause enlarged painless lymph nodes in the groin? I had biopsies on them a few years ago and they were benign. They are just huge. But nothing more was done. im now having further tests because I’ve been back to the docs recently as I just feel so generally rubbish everywhere. Fibromyalgia wasn’t mentioned to me but I stumbled across this site when I was typing in my symptoms. Is fibromyalgia diagnosed by the hospital or the GP? Because I am going to mention maybe it could be a possibility. Will have to see what the CT scan shows first.

thanks in advance 🙏

Hello, let me be the first to welcome you to our group 😊

As to your question your GP can give a diagnoses of fibro once they get your test result back and all is clear.

They may send you to see a rheumatologist who can also diagnose fibro if they find nothing else wrong.

But it seems more and more doctors are doing the diagnoses these days. Which to me makes sense as they are the ones who deal with care of the person with fibro. I hope you have an understanding GP. Unfortunately some doctors even now are not fibro friendly imo.

I see you have left your post unlocked to this community only for privacy reasons you may want to lock it. If you do this link will show you how.

Hello,Sorry you're so poorly atm. Can I just ask if you are male or female? I don't like to assume you are female but I have a feeling you are? The reason I ask is do you have any issues with your periods? The enlarged lymph nodes is something I have among other things and I'm being investigated for endometriosis, which can also come with symptoms such as ibs and UTIs, pain in back, lower abdomen, legs.

Fibro can be diagnosed by gp, rheumatologist, pain clinic. I was diagnosed by pain clinic, whereas my son was diagnosed by gp. I'm no expert, but something else to think about x

Hi I was back and forth for 2 years with pain and exhaustion and anxiety. All blood tests clear except for going into menopause. I like yourself came across fibro after looking up symptoms and brought it up with my muscular skeletal physio (I have arthritis also) and then my doc. I had a pressure test done then was eventually diagnosed. I have enough meds to open a pharmacy 🤣but I try to stick with one pain killer only! Good luck with everything x
