Hi and a warm welcome to the forums. You can find general information on fibromyalgia at our website fmauk.org and our patient information booklets at fmauk.org/publications

We will have different things that help - for me it's a combination of medication, pacing, exercise/activity, heat, cbd, holistic therapies, mindfulness, meditation, distraction etc

Hello, can I ask when you were diagnosed with fibro? Unfortunately there is no quick fix, it's a lot of try and see? Has the doctor given you anything? You need to let us know if it's one particular pain you need help with or any of the other zillions of things going on in your body. I am on different meds and painkillers, but I also use hot and cold for different pains depending where it is at the time. When in a flare you need to be gentle with yourself and rest do whatever you need too, to get a bit of relief. Please remember you are not alone and be kind on yourself.

Sorry you have this, but at least your condition has been recognised and diagnosed. It's a new game with no rules, so trial and error. Butterflygirl says it all really. What helps me and my mind through winter or bad days is watching drone flight videos sometimes or seaside webcams. Pick what you are interested in as it will help distract you from the sadness. Walk about in between if you can. My Cardiologist said to 'Potter' and I can enjoy that but in the early stages after diagnosis I could hardly do that either. If you manage to go out for a walk make sure you have a charged phone with you in case you find you are getting very tired and need to call family or a friend. Don't overdo it. It really is about being gentle with yourself. In time you will develop your own strategies for coping. I am much the same age so I recognise it can be such a shock when you realise the active lifestyle you planned for retirement has not delivered. - But ...There is lots of new research starting now on Long Covid and that will interface with the symptoms we all have too. Possibly also started by other viruses or ptsd. Good list from Angelstar too about the things that will begin to make a difference. - Everyone on this site is a warrior! All the best.
