Hi Mitch

Just going to quickly reply, firstly did your GP diagnose Fibromyalgia or another medical consultant? Secondly why had nobody professional or otherwise taken the time to tell you exactly what Fibromyalgia is and what to expect not necessarily being wheelchair bound.

Last and by no means least wow 8 children how wonderful.

It was the hospital and I keep asking the doctors about the things that is happening to me and all they say is yeah that nominal my lags keep giving up on me and my arms can not hold me up I can not shower myself or get undressed or dressed myself 😭😭😭 thanks I love my children to bits my little one thinks it’s funny when I end up on the floor but he is only 3 so he thinks I want to play cars with him

Shocking you need someone to explain things to you a rheumatologist or pain management clinic it sounds to me that you have been chucked on the nearest pile by uncaring people not bothered people. You need to get answers, don’t worry about the face planting I currently have a gash on my chin lol from my latest escapades.

All humour aside you need assistance now rather than later.

Very few people with fibromyalgia end up in a wheelchair!! Having kids is probably enough exercise to keep you from getting too stiff. There are meds that can help you with pain etc. There are other things that you can do to keep your condition controlled. Find aids to help and try to get others to do things around the house if you can!! Gentle hugs x

Hi Mich, I don’t normally reply to unlocked posts, but fealt you needed a reply. Firstly, Fibro doesn’t always put you in a wheelchair, I currently use a powered chair, but this is because of cfs, and nerve damage and balance issues. If your legs are to weak to carry you, I get this to by the way, may be you should ask to see a rheumatologist, who can access what is going on, and possibly send you for physio, or something to help your muscles, without getting them fatigued. Don’t be scared to try something that may help you, and look into all that is going on with you, google and be armed with what you want to say to your doctor. Don’t give in, it’s taken me a good few years to give into my chair, but each day I fight, and cling to walls or craw on my hands and knees. I won’t let this beat me, and it won’t beat you to if you don’t let it, it’s hard I know. I wish you the best, take good care of yourself, be strong,

Hi Mich,

Like Blue, I have a wheelchair, but try my utmost to stay on two legs. Not everyone needs a chair, so whoever said you would need one is mistaken, as well as somewhat cruel. I haven't used my chair for 4 years, when I had a very long day at a wedding. I do use a rollator, but at my age, 72, I think I can be forgiven.

I do have weak legs and I can't do everything on my own, but giving in is not in my nature. I'm an obstinate old bat basically.

Do you have any other conditions along with your Fibro? Some folk have Ehlers Danloss, which is a condition where there is over extension of joints, or CFS/ME, or even MS. People with these conditions are more likely to need a chair than many just with Fibro.

Don't panic, and Don't give in. We are FibroMighty!

Cheers, Midori
