Lightning process for fibro?

Good morning all! Hope you are as well as possible! I am in so much pain. I heard about Lightning Process helping some people with fibro and other pains, and wondered if anybody here has tried it? It seems to be rather expensive, so wouldn't want to try unless the results are guaranteed really...Many thanks in advance!

if you search on here you will get a few conversations about it. I would suggest going back to GP and accessing CBT and look at activity like taichi, qigong, or yoga etc.

Thanks for your reply! Will search for those conversations. GP just gives painkillers etc

I looked into it years ago .... Expensive, with no guaranteed results (and I think this is one that you are not allowed to talk to anyone about - and if it doesn't work, it's because you are not doing it right)

Thank you! I don't think I will be saving up for it. Its just too expensive, with no guaranteed results

Hi. I've really looked into the red light therapy, and I must admit I think its brilliant idea, yes it costs £75 ago and you have to have 2 sessions a week, but I've got to the stage where I'd do anything to try and get some of my life back. I don't take meds as I don't like the side affects and what it does to me. The red light therapy says you need at least 10 sessions to see any affect, then unfortunately you have to carry on with having sessions at a reduced amount to keep the affect going.

I found a place in Henley on Thames, its about 1 n half hours drive away from me, this is the only thing that is stopping me using it, as id find the drive a huge struggle. But I'm still seriously thinking of trying it. X

I haven't heard of Red Light therapy. Have to look into it. There seems to be so many therapies around, but all quite expensive, without proper guarantees that they would work. Let us know how you fin Red Light Therapy, if you decide to try it :-)

Hi, I've actually tried it and yep, as others have said, it's very expensive and results aren't guaranteed. Frankly I thought it was very very basic, relying on the type of information about neural plasticity that you can find anywhere on the web. I was quite young and didn't have much experience with fibro yet, so there was some useful information, but certainly nothing life changing and not worth it for the price.

I think it didn't help that I didn't really like my instructor. I felt there was an attitude of "you're in a position of power to stop your pain". But for me that simply isn't true, or else I'd have done that already. As Hazel_Angelstar suggested, it is indeed one where "if it doesn't work, it's because you are not doing it right".

Having said that, I know someone who tried it for their CFS/ME and says it worked..... So take from that what you will. Still, I wouldn't recommend it. I would suggest saving up for a different therapy like hydrotherapy or acupuncture.

Good luck! x

Many thanks for your useful info. I am now leaning towards not wanting to try it, as it seems it doesn't even help for many. For that much money, I would need to be more certain

the lightning process is a huge con which according to many who have paid for and attended this scam has made them worse . unfortunately there are many scammers out there just waiting to rip of the desperate people with any medical problems that drs do not really understand and thus are not of much use to some patient groups.

I've never heard of the Lightning Process, sounds like a way of parting desperate folk from their money, especially 'If it doesn't work, you aren't doing it right!' Red flag there! Plenty of folk out to con the gullible!

As an older Fibromite, Tai Chi is my go to excercise; I can't do yoga as I'm too stiff, and can't get up from the floor.

Cheers, Midori

Many thanks for your thoughts! Much appreciated :-)

Its not lightning process that is a scam..... its called Red light therapy, they use it with athletes who have had injuries to help speed up the healing. It looks like a sun bed, it does the whole of your body, it helps oxygenated your cells.

Lightning process and infrared light therapy are two different therapies ... The scan comment referred to lightning process not the light therapy you mentioned.

I think that's rather rude you saying this. You don't know anything about me.

Photobiomodulation Therapy is the application of red light/near-infrared wavelengths over diseased areas, injuries, sores or wounds to promote healing, reduce inflammation and pain

Very tempted to try it! :-)

My daughter was very unwell with ME/CFS from age 11-15. She was unable to walk, feed herself, wash herself and just slept most of the day. She couldn't even lift her arms to brush hair. We booked her in for lightning therapy as last resort after trying many other therapies. The lightning process was unbelievable, she wasnt immediately cured, as she needed to learn to do everything again (it was like watching a baby learning everything), but the difference after the course was amazing and she followed the course daily for several months. She learned to walk and behave like a normal teenager again. She hadn't attended school for 4 years, but she went back to school for the last 1.5 years and passed her GCSE's with As and Bs. She then went on to take A levels and is now at university. She gets tired easily and needs early nights, but she is living her best life
