Hi all. I have recently been diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I have also got osteoarthritis in my knees hands wrists elbows shoulders. I had to give up work due to being exhausted and in so much pain. The job centre are putting me under a lot of pressure to find a job. I do not think job centre staff are qualified or understand medical conditions

New to fibromyalgia
Hi there, I too have fibromyalgia and widespread osteoarthritis and had to give up working. If you have been signed off work by your doctor and given the sick note/s in to the jobcentre they cant make you go back to work. I was fortunate enough to have an understanding Doctor who signed me off for 4 to 8 weeks at a time and gave me fitness for work notes each time I needed it renewed, these were all given to the jobcentre. I have since had a f2f assessment with one of dwps health professionals and have been declared unable to work by them and no longer have to provide sick notes or look for work.
Kind regards x
you are right they are not qualified to understand medical conditions. They cannot put pressure on you if you have a Doctors note. Tell them you have legitimate reasons you are unable to work and don't let them discriminate against you.
