AC Arthritis-Widespread Chronic Pain Syndrome

I had a fall on my shoulder which I am agony anyway and can’t move up or behind back.

Had an X-Ray and Dr said I know have AC Arthritis in shoulder , Bakers cyst I’m having a knee aspiration and been diagnosed with osteoarthritis.

My rheumatologist consultant states I have Widespread Chronic Pain syndrome and now off work as in pain all over and cannot sleep due to shoulder pain .

I’m such a positive person who works in addiction motivating people to change daily , work a 12 step programme daily but feel like absolutely sh*t and want to break down and cry most days due to this ongoing niggly pain all over and shooting pains in arm .

Still under investigation with consultants and having more blood tests . Pain management consultant won’t reach Back to me as since her procedure on Faceat joint injection my shoulder is worse.

How can they just leave you in pain.

I’m fed up of keep calling GP who says speak to your consultants which I do not have any appointments with them until November

I just suffer and deal with it one day at a time until then but today is a sh*t day and I don’t want it to be so putting out there if anyone has been through similar and what have they now got in place and any meds they are on etc....

When you listed your conditions I thought you were listing my own. I can greatly empathise with you as I have all of them and a few more. Sadly I can offer no advice as the injections did not work for me. My bakers cyst keeps coming back and all the medications I have tried failed to help with the exception of opiates. However in my area there is a pain management programme which both my wife and I have found helpful. It is definitely not a cure but it makes you look and deal with problems in a different way. Personally I would ring 111 for advice regarding the pain they may get you in to an emergency centre where you could get more affective pain relief.

Thank you and yes the pain management programme has been offered (mindfulness) which I am open to but it coincides with my work .

I have a OH appointment for work coming up and hoping they support me to go on the 12 week course.

Any help I’m open to

Thanks

J

The course I am on is not just mindfulness. They look at everything from medications to exercise. Both my wife and I had our pain meds increased. Obviously you are still at work and it does make pacing and planning far more difficult. Going on the course could help you but OH may need to emphasize to your work that in order to benefit they may need to change their attitude.

That’s what I’m hoping for at work as it’s took my GP to intervene for a OH referral to happen.

I actually work in health care (Addiction)and glad I have finally took action rather then just get support via a manger to let me make up hours and work late for all recent health appointments.

I just couldn’t do anymore as fatigue was killing me .

I’m hoping they just give me the right plan as I’m open to anything at moment.

Doing physio

Taking meds

Why they continue to investigate

Next appts are not until November so just resting and upped my own 12 step recovery.

It’s good to know I’m not alone and other individuals have more experience as all new to me and hardest is accepting this

It is very much like grieving process. I was not given a diagnosis until until all else had been ruled out. Your Doctors appear to be doing the same. I find it difficult to put into words but accepting how I was and would be was a very hard process. Anger, denial I think I went through them all. In many ways there are more questions than answers and too many unknowns. It is good to talk let things out. We cannot do much but at least we can listen.
