I have had M.E. for 20 + years, the pain is criminal and I sometimes feel helpless in controlling it( or is that unless!) I would like some advice from someone who knows what this feels like. I take paracetamol and ibruprofin, can't tolerate codine. Can anyone suggest anything that won't knock me out!!
Many thanks.

Hi Broadfield, sorry you are in so much pain. Maybe ask your GP about medication for nerve pain. I have CFS and on Pregabalin and Naproxen, and can honestly say I couldn't function without them. Some days I still top up with codeine but for the most part, the Pregabalin makes life a little less miserable.
Am having relief with the Naproxen, thanks so much for the info. Not to sure about going on Pregabalin yet but am keeping it in mind. Have joined an M.E. support group today as I feel I need to get control of one or the other!!!! Had a rough ride lately as I have had one virus after another.
Glad to hear something's giving you a bit of relief. The rollercoaster of infections and such definitely don't help...
If you can manage without the Pregabalin, do. I went up to 400mg a day and that stuff is addictive. Now trying to get off it slowly - down to 300mg and I feel rough.
I have a friend with M.S. Who advised me to stay away from Pregabalin!! I hope you can get through the withdraw with out too much pain and crapness!! I use a day lamp in winter, meditation, and lots of music. Thanks for your reply. Good luck and may your future be bright 🌞🌞 xx
